Such a unique, wonderful city to visit!
Such a unique, wonderful city to visit! Lots of interesting places to visit, amazing hiking trails and ocean views! Especially during fall, the colors are so beautiful! Would recommend Signal Hill, Cape Spear and the shops and restaurants on George Street and Water Street! We learned quite quickly the easier ways to get around. And everyone is so amazingly friendly!! Will definitely be back!!Guest review byJackieCanada - 8.0
We enjoyed one day and night in Gander.
We enjoyed one day and night in Gander. Really enjoyed the stop at Gander International Airport with the history and the connection obviously to the 9/11 events. Our stop at Silent Witness Memorial was sad but interesting to learn of these events. We had a fabulous meal at The All New Rosie's Restaurant. Delicious and so much food. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Gander.Guest review byDeniseCanada - 8.0
Location of hotel was great.
Location of hotel was great. Cruise ships pull into downtown area busy. The parking is hard to know if you pay or not because the meters are all broken and even the restauraunt did not know if I have to pay. I came back to a bylaws officer writing me up for 100 dollar ticket . I told him there is no meter where I parked he said the spot was for cruise ship shuttle bus. I discussed this with him and I thanked him for a warning only. I came back 1 hour later to find the spot now had a sign cruise ship shuttle parking.Guest review byTonyCanada - 8.0

There were great scenic views and had all the amenities that were needed. We ate at the Buoy and arrow and the fisherman’s landing which had super kind staff and great food. The ice cream at Sweet rock was delicious and it was a nice little ice cream store. Overall Rocky Point is a great place to go to !!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We arrived after the fishing had ended so unfortunately we couldn’t get any fresh seafood. There are good hiking trails worth doing. The town is very picturesque and during the regular tourist season it’s a lot of fun.Guest review byWendyCanada - 8.0
I would recommend going when things are not closing down.
I would recommend going when things are not closing down. It is beautiful but many things closed and it was pretty cold. Shout out to Skippers! We ate there a few times and it was great. History of Bonavista very interesting. Note we travelled end of September/first week of October.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Two minute drive from ferry. Very friendly folk.
Two minute drive from ferry. Very friendly folk. We stayed at Hotel Port Aux Basque and we would stay there again. We didn’t spend much time driving around. We only stayed for the night before continuing our journey up north. The hotel was within walking distance to Irving and a Tim Hortons, as well as a convenience store a little up the road. There was also a Foodland in the area which we did not visit.Guest review byAmy-JoCanada - 6.0

GFW is a useful stopping point when crossing the island, we were reasonably lucky with the weather, if it had been raining we would of struggled to fill the days. as with much of NL I would pass by if we had not previously read the reviews, we found good pizza at Leftys and also an Indian near the mallsGuest review byAndyM - 6.0
Gros Morne Park is specularly beautiful.
Gros Morne Park is specularly beautiful. The mountains are glorious, the lakes beautiful. Norris Point is a small village with several accommodations & a couple of pubs. It’s just a few minutes from Rocky Harbour, about 25 minutes from Western Brook Pond where you can take a wonderful guided boat ride through breath taking ancient mountains. Trails abound throughout the region. Driving along 430 provides so many jaw dropping vistas. An outdoor persons heaven.Guest review byRosemarieCanada - 8.0
The city has a mixture of architecture.
The city has a mixture of architecture. It suffered from an extensive fire so many of the older wooden buildings were distroyed. There are a number of eating establishments but booking is necessary if you wish to eat between 6 -7.30. Whilst we stayed 4 nights this was firstly to acclimatise and at the end to prepare for the second half of our trip in Canada and refresh our luggage. Two days are sufficient for St John's but there are various places of interest within a hours drive. We found the food in The Gypsy Tea Rooms the best and other than the old fort area walking is the best way to get aroundGuest review byNick@huggs.co.ukUnited Kingdom
