- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 169 reviewsWe loved staying in this bright, roomy and clean 2 bedroom, upstairs apartment. We booked last minute due to an accommodation cancellation in Jasper. Having a kitchen was fantastic for us. It was decorated well and lots of small touches made it a very comfortable stay. The owner, Luc, was very hospitable and informative. Field is a quiet little village about 15-20 minutes drive away from the crowds of Lake Louise. There is no grocery shop in Field but you can easily get supplies in Lake Louise. We ate one night at the local pub - Truffle Pig. Whilst there are lots of perhaps more attractive (from the outside) properties to stay in around this area, this place is a real surprise inside. We used the heater on one cold night and it was lovely. Bedding was very comfortable and all very clean. Having some space and an extra bedroom and access to all we wanted to see ( plus a few bonus attractions) was perfect for us. The nearby falls and the Emerald Lake are must see attractions.Guest review byHelenAustralia

Lake Louise attracts thousands of visitors who have to be...
Lake Louise attracts thousands of visitors who have to be managed; it's overshadowed by the mass of the fairmont Chateau hotel. Louise is one of hundreds of vividly coloured, turquoise lakes in the Alberta Rockies. If you want beauty with a little peace and quiet look elsewhere. Emerald lake, half an hour away from Louise, is beautiful ad attracts fewer visitors. Peyto lake, see photo, on the Icefield Parkway is perhaps the most dramatic (hint: don't turn right into the parking but continue straight on to the upper parking and avoid a strenuous climb uphill on foot). Accommodation at Lake Loise is expensive. Consider staying in Banff or Golden and driving into the area. Parks Canada has useful info about shuttle service and parking.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Central location to tourist attractions.
Central location to tourist attractions. Small quiet small residential town on trans Canada highway. Great pub in town to walk to and eat at evenings. Has interesting train history. Away from the crowds at Lake Louise.Guest review byAnonymous - 2.0

I paid nearly $800 per night expecting a quiet, nature-focused stay, as advertised on the hotel’s website. Instead, I was first given a noisy room, and then moved to another that smelled strongly of bleach and had a broken window. Despite my allergy, no alternative room was offered. The bleach fumes caused severe headaches that required painkillers, and by the second day, ants had entered the room. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing and far from worth the price.Guest review byMaryamUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Field is a small, quiet, town just off the Trans Canadian Highway. It has a few shops and an Inn which serves food. There are spectacular mountains on both sides of the valley with a beautiful river running through it. There is a railway line running parallel to the road and it was fascinating to watch the long trains passing through.Guest review byHelenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Lake access can be difficult due to the massive crowds Lake Louise, such that hundreds of people walk 1-2 miles uphill just to get to the lake, because parking lot is full by 8:00 AM. There is a reason for this - possibly the most beautiful mountain setting on earth, with dozens of iconic hikes within minutes of the area.Guest review byCJ LangUnited States - 6.0

I stayed at Cathedral Mountain Lodge because it was the closest place to Lake O’Hara. I had managed to win a much coveted bus ticket, and this was the perfect place to stay the night before. Absolutely loved staying at the lodge, views of mountains all around. The only thing I don’t like about this area is the highway. People drive way too fast, it’s sometimes quite scary!Guest review byShirleyUnited Kingdom
