The food in the restaurant is amazing. We speak English only and everyone was incredibly friendly.

FranceMatjaz was super nice, we felt welcome right away. We were upgraded to the Adler suite which was a bigger room with a nice large shower, vintage furniture and super comfy bed. At breakfast we were well looked after as well. We came with our dog without issue, they even said we could have him with us at breakfast.

I'm not one to praise something that doesn't deserve it however this property is absolutely a 10 out of 10. The Hotel was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The property looks new as it is meticulously cared for and the room size was generous as was the bathroom. Out of all the Hotels we stayed in over 3 weeks, this was by far the best. It's not a typical Hotel, it has the beautiful Swiss feel of years gone by, a Gasthaus. The food in the restaurant was also 10 out of 10. The views of the countryside were absolutely stunning and just a minute of so up the road was the Ebenalp cable car up to Berggasthaus Aescher. Special shout out to the staff, everyone was exceptionally forthcoming and kind. This is an absolutely precious town. Very quaint and cozy away from the city. You can walk all over the whole town admiring the traditional homes. Very quiet and laid back. We arrived by car but walked back to Appenzell when we checked out to catch a train. It was a beautiful walk through meadows and woods and took 2 hours 45 minutes. Weissbad Lodge is a lovely place, casual, with reduced service but excellent very modern and comfortable rooms just adjacent to the Weissbad train station and not far from the town of Appenzell and the the Ebenalp and Hoher Kasten cable cars. It is a lovely tranquil area to spend a few days. Especially innovative is the breakfast delivered in a paper bag to your door in the morning and the Generosity Wall which has a coffee machine, a snack machine, a microwave , utensils etc. to make your stay more pleasant. The main Hof Weissbad hotel is nearby and available for for first class restaurant meals as is the really fine Alpenhof family restaurant just across the small river that runs by the lodge. It should be noted that the Appenzell Card is a terrific free offer for guests who stay three nights in the canton: it includes train travel from anywhere in Switzerland, free local public transport entrance to a number of museums and other attractions as well as cable car rides. It was the perfect location with beautiful views in every direction. It was the perfect place to end our last 2 days in Switzerland. Staff was very friendly and personable. The morning we left, we needed to leave before the regular breakfast time, but the chef got up early to prepare a very nice breakfast. The room was large, well decorated, had a huge bathroom, and our own personal balcony! Would highly recomend this place as by far, the best of the 9 places we stayed during our two weeks in Switzerland!!Guest review bydanielUnited States
