- From US$224.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,072 reviewsWe stayed two nights end of November and booked a spacious quadruple room on the 3rd floor, which had a mountain view and side view on the castle. Everything was perfect: 1) Very close to the center of the village (there are only a few hotels in such proximity to Gruyeres and Hotel de Gruyeres is the most affordable); 2) hotel is located on the hill, so you do not have to go up from public parking P1, P2 or P3; 3) private parking with 9 places and a couple of places for motorbikes (free of charge); 4) if private parking is full, the car can be parked on P1, P2 or P3 for 10 CHF per day or free of charge between 18:00 and 8:00; 5) room is equipped with a fridge, kettle, safe; 6) fabulous fresh breakfast with a lot of choices; 7) very friendly ladies on reception; 8) wellness center with sauna and hammam (can be booked and ready for use in one hour of heating) and small gym (well equipped); 9) restaurant with a terrace outside with an amazing view; 10) 5 min to the cheese factory and 15 min to chocolate factory by car.Guest review byGolij_muzhikNetherlands
- From US$196.71 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 857 reviewsThis hotel is impressive for its heritage: first documented as a hotel in the 14C. But despite some intentional remnants in the building, the rooms have been modernized by a designer with excellent style and taste. No indication that the room was any older than a few years! We had a room with a small kitchen and courtyard view, but it was spacious and very quiet - couldn't even hear any noise from the restaurant right below. Murten is a charming medieval town that is worth stopping in for a night when the tourists are gone and the atmosphere is special.Guest review byRichardCanada

Fribourg is not a large town but there are a few very interesting things to do. The museums are quite fantastic and have much to offer. There are many walks including up the hill to the Chapelle de Lorette. As a Catholic town, there are some fascinating relics and history at the local churches. As a bilingual city, its fascinating to hear French, Swiss German, and a decent amount of Italian all at the same time. The food scene is quite nice and not as expensive as other places in Switzerland.Guest review byKristian - 10.0

Bulle has been a stopping off point for several years now - it's a wonderful small town with a very nice centre. There's a choice of several good hotels and there are plenty of restaurants. The local cheese fondue is a must!Guest review byAndreasFrance - 10.0

It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Lake boats ply daily (in summer) to Neuchatel.Guest review byMartinSwitzerland - 6.0

Tiny Gruyères is better suited for a daytime visit than an overnight stay. Food options are pricey and few between, with limited menus and no activities after dark. Better options for your stay would probably be in nearby Bulles.Guest review bygermeskernashUnited States - 10.0

A quiet town, if you want nightclubs this isn't the place,...
A quiet town, if you want nightclubs this isn't the place, but has everything most people will need. Trains/buses go from the station down a steep hill from the main street. Romont is a stop on the faster InterRegio SBB trains so getting to/from other parts of Switzerland is easy. Romont has both Coop and Migros/Denners supermarkets. For emergency supplies on Sundays the convenience shop next to the station is a reasonable size. The old walls and tower are worth a look. I spent my days hiking and unfortunately didn't get to the stained glass museum. Gruyeres and the Cailler chocolate factory in Broc short train rides away - I walked off a cheese overdose hiking the fairly short distance from Gruyeres to Broc. A bus ride towards Jaun is worthwhile and the chairlift up the Gastlosen takes you up to some good hiking, and cooler conditions in hot weather. The hike along the leg of the Via Jacobi from Romont to Moudon is an easy 13km but doesn't have much shade so remember the sun screen.Guest review byPamelaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It is a small city but has amazing vibe where diversity meets. I went for business visit and could see lot of people from other countries have settled or visiting this location. The architecture and the city view is amazing. The train station has access to major cities and good enough to stay for a cozy travelers.Guest review bySaravana GopalanNetherlands - 10.0

Bulle is a lively small Swiss city close to the mountains of Fribourg. The city has a charming old center with a castle and there are several very nice bars and restaurants for drinks and dining. There are some fantastic Asian restaurants (Thai as well as Japanese) that offer delicious food and drinks. And, there are many opportunities for nearby hiking (e.g. around Lac de la Gruyère, or around the "Gastlosen" mountains starting from the Jaun village). Finally, there is the Cailler chocolate factory (in nearby Broc, 10 min by train), that is definitively worth a visit!Guest review byMarcelSwitzerland - 10.0

Beautiful hilltop medieval town with so-so castle, great views, ambiance, a great cheese manufacturing tour, some lovely hotels, a Tibetan museum, and a museum of the works of the disturbed anti-human artist HR Giger. If you are into easy-moderate hiking, the Callier chocolate factory, or the nearby towns (Broc or Moreson) Mt., it will be worth more than one day. I took a lovely hike to Broc on a trail found in the app, AllTrails. This was very worthwhile.Guest review byHenryUnited States - 10.0

I enjoyed exploring the old town and also some other places within easy reach by train including Neuchatel and Murten. I also enjoyed eating at various cafes and restaurants close to the hotel. I would particularly recommend the Cafe Du Midi just a short walk from the hotel especially for traditional Swiss food such as fondue.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom
