- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 479 reviewsThe location of Hotel Ermitage is perfect with glorious views of the Lac Leman / Lake Garda. The Deluxe lake view room was beautiful, well appointed with very comfortable large bed, excellent views of the garden and lake beyond, from a loggia which had enough room for chair and desk. My mother requested an upgrade at her own cost and her Castle Room was just wonderful, spacious with excellent amenities, a seating area which doubled up as a lounge area and a Loggia and separate spacious balcony area - very much worth the additional cost. There was very much attention to detail, such as beautiful furnishings and little details such as eco coffee pods for the machine, which we very much appreciated. The grounds of the hotel are absolutely gorgeous and linked to the grounds of the sister hotel, The Hotel Royale. The Ermitage is beautiful hotel, very quite, beautifully decorated and the dining experience very much what we would expect from a quality French restaurant. None of this would mean anything without the wonderful hospitality of the staff. All individual staff members had a lovely approach, with typical French manners, discreet and gracious service throughout. In particular, the gentleman who assisted us with room change for my mother was particularly attentive and supportive with our needs as was the young woman serving us in the restaurant on Sunday evening. However all members of staff were wonderful and attentive. Absolutely, faultless service throughout. We cannot wait to return to the Hotel Ermitage and Evian and thank you so much for making my Mother's birthday so special. With all due apologies for my school girl French - Merci beaucoup pour votre merveilleuse hospitalité.Guest review byRosie NorthUnited Kingdom

Geneva is beautiful.
Geneva is beautiful. The lake is amazing the food is glorious, though expensive, but there are bargains to be had in supermarkets. The yellow boat/ferry back and fore is an excellent way to traverse the lake and is free. Make use of the free public transport whenever possible via the free tourist pass. Most of the hotels will be able to email you with a link to the free pass system. We took a bus from the airport to the hotel and back again for our return home. Trams and buses are free. Take the scenic boat trip, well worth the time and money. Easy to get about on foot but you can walk lots if you want. Plenty of restaurants/cafes available to eat either breakfast, lunch or dinner. However be warned, Most shops don't open Sundays, including grocery stores. Cafes will open by about 10am.Guest review bySimeonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lausanne is a lovely city, energetic, lots of nightlife, and nice restaurants, and a great metro. We used our brief time to take a classic Belle Epoch boat across the lake to Yvoire, plus lots of wandering in town.Guest review byMatthewUnited States - 10.0

Montreux is a beautiful town, located on Lake Geneva, surrounded by mountains. Great dining, lovely flower lined promenade stretching for several kilometres along the lakeside. Great train services to many parts of Switzerland, especially the Golden Pass Express, which runs between Montreux and Interlaken, travelling through amazing landscapes, Special mention if you are a Queen fan is the Freddie Tour, which is an amazing tour and commentary about the time that Freddie Mercury and the band spent in Montreux's Mountain Studios, and the town, visiting locations where they hung out, and learning a true insight to Freddie. Will certainly return to this fabulous town.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist...
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist season, felt unexpectedly lifeless. Many stores appeared permanently closed, and the town lacked any real atmosphere after early evening—by 10pm, only the casino restaurant was still serving food. This left few options for late dining or entertainment. Given these circumstances and the general sense of a closed-up town, I would not recommend visiting Evian-les-Bains, especially if you're expecting a lively lakeside resort experience. While some guides and official tourism pages highlight Evian's attractive lakefront, Belle Époque architecture, and potential activities along the lake and nearby outdoors, recent firsthand accounts confirm a lack of vibrancy and operational businesses, even in traditionally busy months. For travelers who prioritize a bustling atmosphere and broad dining options long into the evening, it may be better to look elsewhere.Guest review byRudyKUnited States - 10.0

Nyon has the tough luck being located between Genebra and Lausanne. Nevertheless, the location by the lake with plenty of history makes it a great place to visit and have a gentle stroll around its quarters.Guest review byMikeSwitzerland - 10.0

Really nice location in this nice old town area.
Really nice location in this nice old town area. Simple and comfortable hotel. No AC but a portable fan was in the room that worked well. Windows opened for cooling. They did smoke in the walkway and that would enter the roof now and again. Front desk employees were very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.Guest review byBrown - 8.0

Geneva is conveniently located for visiting various nearby areas by train and other means of transport (Annecy 1h30, Lausanne 50 minutes, Yvoire 15 minutes by train plus 20 minutes by boat, Nyon 15 minutes, etc.). As a city, it doesn’t have a huge number of attractions, but it can serve as a great base for exploring the surrounding region. Yvoire and Annecy are especially beautiful places to visit, particularly during seasons when nature is in full bloom!Guest review byMariaGreece
