Last thing you want to do after a big day of skiing is carry kids’ skis for miles or fight for a shuttle or taxi home. Staff are really amazing. They went out their way to help us track down some lost luggage. You can get your ski passes directly from the hotel. For us it actually turned out a little cheaper than getting it on the Zermatt app. There is an indoor pool and outdoor jacuzzi which the kids loved after skiing. It’s a 20min walk or a rather expensive 15CHF taxi ride to town centre. There is a good breakfast but no hotel restaurant as such for lunch or dinner. They can however order food from any restaurant so it arrives at the hotel for dinner, which can be enjoyed at the hotel. And of course the view of the Matterhorn is unbeatable. I was able to watch both sunrise and sunset during my stay without any hassle having to find a viewpoint that requires efforts. The staff is amazing. I felt very welcome and was made at home. The facility includes both breakfast and dinner which I found very convenient and loving - since it’s up in the mountain, if these meals weren’t available or demanded a cost it’d feel quite unloving. Make sure you check the timetable to plan for your trips. But no nightlife after skiing and u will need to go down to the village by train if u want to life the night experience in Zermatt. We would probably go another time to B&B Gasenried when we are there. It is a nice B&B with friendly staff and owner and they are located on a spectacular place. We had exceptional weather 26 degrees and no clouds, so the Gornergrat is a MUST DO in these conditions. Even paragliding should be considered. The town isn't big, so a good walk around is a great introduction, beware of the electric bikes as you walk down the high street ! Stunning alpine village. Definitely add Zermatt to your list when visiting Switzerland. We could definitely have spent more time enjoying Zermatt and surrounds. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation. Hotel Walliserhof is good value for the area compared to many other hotels.
