We visited a real Mongolian family, learned to cook, rode horses, etc. The tour was equipped with a 4x4 and all the necessary equipment. Modern city, plenty to see, enjoy, very convenient to get around. Don't be fooled, tier 3 city merely means you get buzzling plus the wild side of things. Best time to visit is May, June, July. Hohhot should be considered just as a starting or end point for a trip through inner Mongolia, the city is not very special. We stayed an extra day in Hohhot to see the dinosaur museum but we didn't realize it is closed on Mondays.Guest review byMartijnNetherlands
