Cesky Krumlov is a different place than the one I visited...
Cesky Krumlov is a different place than the one I visited many years ago. It has gone through quite a change for the better. The buildings have been renovated, shops and homes attract the tourists to stay and enjoy the place. We went around on foot, went up to the castle from where we had a good view of the surrounding area, ate at a restaurant by the river and simply enjoyed the scenery, although the weather did not cooperate - it was always cloudy and sometimes it rained. I was there twice and never didn't take enough time for detailled exploring city and surroundings. Main square is really big and in neighbourhood streets there is really great choice for drinking beer or coffee, to take traditional or modern style lunch, to research historical buildings. The concentration of bars is even bigger than in Brno, Plzen or Karlovy Vary. Although, there are many sights in walking distance, prices are very reasonble and place itself is a great hub for exploring close destinations, such a Česky Krumlow (30 min), Tabor with Chocholate museum (45 min), Hluboka nad Vltavou castle (15 min), Telč (1:15 min), etc. I recommend for at least 3 days staying, peak season is summer.Guest review byDaniSlovenia - 8.0

Very pleasant town. Good choice of restaurants. Municipal beach within walking distance – 70 crowns per day. For a snack, try the fried carp from the stand by the lake. Bike hire info from the tourist office is out of date. Best bet is to go to the railway station, which hires bikes. The Old Town was really lovely.
The Old Town was really lovely. The large main square had nice buildings around it and the town was pleasant to wander in. There were many little cafes and restaurants. The walls and towers were interesting to see, and there were fabulous views over the surrounding town. Accomodation there was not expensive which was a bonus. The place is truly picturesque: right nearby lies a quiet lake, surrounded by lush green forest. Just a hundred meters from the hotel, there is a lift that takes guests straight into a magical woodland with breathtaking views. Along the forest trails, you can enjoy peaceful walks, or, if you wish, rent bicycles or scooters and set off on a little journey among the trees and fresh air. The hotel itself is a highlight of the area. It offers delicious and varied food, with a warm, friendly, almost family-like atmosphere. Pisek is known as "Little Prague." It is a lovely, historic town on the Otava River with great restaurants and cafes, a stone bridge that is older than Charles Bridge in Prague, an interesting city museum, and easy access to numerous hiking and bicycling trails. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed Cesky Krumlov and the surrounding area. The house is set up well and spotless. Everything you need is there. It overlooks a pasture and is next to the local lake. A really lovely place to visit which we'd not heard of in the uk. Very interesting. Lots to see. Maybe a few too many tourists. Beware pickpockets... We were very nearly robbed in the main square.
