FAQs about hotels in Black Forest
A Forest Full of Surprises
A mysterious mountain range in south-western Germany, the Black Forest evokes images of wild, dark forests and quiet paths with hidden castles and ruins. In fact, this is a very vibrant region with popular wine routes, roaring waterfalls and charming little towns, always full of things to see and do.
However, the biggest kick comes from the Black Forest’s nature and landscape -of its densely forested mountain peaks, Feldberg is the highest at 1,493 metres and the birthplace of the Danube River. Follow its hiking footpaths to see the Titisee and Schluchsee lakes, the most famous German waterfalls of the Triberg and the popular River Wutach gorge.
The region is famous for its crafts, particularly the precision clock making and wood crafting, both coming together in the art of cuckoo clocks, symbolic of the entire Black Forest. There are not as famous as a certain delicacy though: the renowned Black Forest cake, a delicious combination of chocolate, sour cherries, Kirch brandy and cream. An absolute must-try!
From Freiburg to Baden-Baden, from Freudenstadt to Gengenbach, and from 5 star hotels to charming guest houses built in the local style, Booking.com has plenty accommodation on offer for your Black Forest trip.

- From US$482.66 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 148 reviewsExcellent 👌 We stayed here during the long weekend of the 14th July, as we live in France, and we were extremely pleased. The hotel is in a beautiful setting and you'll have amazing views of the forest from most rooms and from the pool. The pool is also great, and it was one of the things that made us choose this hotel, as we wanted to relax and enjoy the hot summer weather. The staff is 5 stars! From the reception, to the restaurant, everyone was extremely polite, welcoming and friendly. We don't speak German very well, and everyone made us feel comfortable by speaking in English with us (a special thanks to the gentleman that served us dinner both nights!). The hotel is also very clean and comfortable. Our room was spacious, had a lovely garden and we felt at home here. The restaurant is also amazing! Our dinner was excellent, really, with healthy, fresh and rich ingredients, but without all that nonsense new-trend cuisine. We loved it! Also, we think the hotel is a great value if you choose half-board. We think the price of the room, with everything you have access to (spa, pool, beautiful forest...), is extremely reasonable considering the quality food (and generous portions!) you get. Also, lunch/brunch is included (with salads, a lot of fresh and delicious fruit, cakes, etc), and you also have fruit and tea in a space by the pool and spa. We thought is was so generous! Overall, we were extremely pleased and we'll definitely be coming back in the future. It's German quality and German hospitality at its best! Highly, highly recommended!Guest review byAndréFrance
- From US$349.96 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 192 reviewsWe requested a dog-friendly room and were thrilled to find one that opened directly onto a patio and the pristine gardens. Our dog loved being able to step straight outside. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable for us. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to explore the hotel’s spa areas. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, with a wide variety of dishes to enjoy. The staff were incredibly friendly, and there was plenty of parking. The gardens were vibrant and well-maintained, and we enjoyed a lovely morning stroll before the unfortunate moment of leaving.Guest review byBhikhu VaderaSpain
- From US$513.19 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 279 reviewsA true 5 star hotel: From the first class (and friendly) check-in to the quality of every fixture and fitting, this is a really impressive hotel. I particularly liked the gym facilities. A huge range of high end equipment, and there was a separate room to use for yoga/ personal exercise (when not used for classes), the pool was lovely with many places to sit or lounge by. The restaurant was beautiful. The food was healthy and inventive, the wine selection impressive. Every member of staff I met was helpful and friendly .Guest review byTheaUnited Kingdom

Baden-Baden is worth a couple of days if you want to see the original European spa town, on the edge of the Black Forest. Two thermal spas dominate the town. There are good rail connections: we came from Munich with one brief change for a 3-hour total journey; there is a 1.5 hour direct train to the Frankfurt airport, which makes Baden-Baden convenient for those using Condor or other Frankfurt-based airlines.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0

Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer.
Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer. The lake is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the town center is full of character, with lovely little shops, cozy restaurants, and plenty of ice cream stands. It’s a great place for a peaceful getaway and to enjoy the Black Forest atmosphere. However, one unpleasant experience during our visit was dinner at Musse am See – Bio Asia Dining. We were a group of 3 adults and 4 children, and we ordered at 8:20 PM. The service was extremely slow and disorganized: The first dish (for one child) arrived at 8:50 PM. Two more dishes (for adults) came at 9:05 PM. The remaining four meals (for one adult and three children) didn’t arrive until 9:20 PM. A simple Sprite took over 15 minutes, and only arrived after my friend went to the counter to ask about it. The staff seemed unaware until she pointed it out. To make matters worse, the waiter spilled the Sprite onto one of the children’s meals, which completely ruined it—and the child didn’t eat after that. I love Asian food, but this was by far the most disappointing experience I’ve had at an Asian restaurant. It was a real letdown in an otherwise lovely town.Guest review byDonnahSwitzerland - 10.0

We had a wonderful time exploring Germany's largest town square, with its arcades, shops and other attractions. There were also open-air concerts taking place in the Kurhaus event location. It's also a great base to explore the southern Black Forest from. Freudenstadt will also be co-hosting the state garden show in 2025 (together with the neighbouring town of Baiersbronn) and so we plan to return!Guest review byKenGermany - 10.0

We used Offenburg as a hub for exploring the Black Forest. We visited the Open Air Museum, Hohenzollern Castle, an old town with a clock shop, and took a hike in the woods. We couldn't do everything we wanted to, but Offenburg made a really great "base of operations."Guest review byBellrobin - 10.0

VS-Villingen is a Medieval walled city within easy driving (...
VS-Villingen is a Medieval walled city within easy driving (or train) distance of many of the attractions in the Black Forest area of Germany. It is one hour and 15 minutes from either Zurich or Stuttgart International airports. It has an incredible Fastnacht celebration in February. Like Mardi Gras in the USA, it is celebrated during the last days before the start of Lent (Ash Wednesday). The parades are amazing with ancient wooden face masks and elaborate costumes representing the various regions.Guest review byRichard
