Castilla Termal Brihuega is, without a doubt, one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at—even compared to 5-star GL properties. The hotel is relatively new (opened about a year ago) and located in a beautifully restored 18th-century Royal Cloth Factory. The atmosphere and decoration are simply fantastic. They’ve created a space that feels luxurious and elegant but still warm and inviting, with rustic touches that make it truly unique. The service was outstanding. Beatriz, the guest relations manager, and Pedro from the restaurant were especially kind and made us feel so welcome. The food at La Redonda was a highlight. They take traditional Spanish recipes, like migas, and elevate them into something truly extraordinary. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Breakfast was another standout—it’s easily the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. The variety, freshness, and quality of the ingredients were incredible. On top of that, they offer local specialties like rye bread and rosquillas from the award-winning bakery in the village. These little touches made the experience unforgettable. During our stay, we discovered Vino Converso, which is produced by Castilla Termal itself. It instantly became our new favorite Ribera del Duero. We bought several bottles at reception, along with the hotel’s signature mikado diffuser, so we could bring a little piece of the experience home with us. What’s remarkable is that this hotel is just an hour from Madrid, making it an easy trip. We loved it so much that we’re already thinking of flying back to Madrid and renting a car just to come back here. It’s the kind of place that feels like a destination in itself.

As soon as I arrived at the accommodation, I was surprised by the wonderful view from the balcony. The balconies were connected side by side to each room in the accommodation, and we couldn't go back and forth, but it was even better to see the wonderful view while greeting each other. Sleeping in a warm bedroom, I could see a wonderful view, and closing a nice door was dark, so I could take a good rest. It was a shame to stay and leave for just one day. I want to stay again next time and recommend it.

    What a fabulous city.

What a fabulous city. Absolutely stunning and so much to see. It is easy to walk round the city and in September the temperatures were comfortable. The cathedral is magnificent. One of the most stunning walled and ancient cities I have ever seen.

We liked the size of the place. It was just right for us to look around in the time we had. We loved the old charm and the amazing buildings. The cathedral lit up in the evening sunshine and we sat in a beautiful courtyard looking out over wonderful views. The hanging houses were a sight to behold even though I had to walk out onto a scary bridge to get a photograph!

The city springs to life during the first two weeks in september: Feria de Albacete - a bit like the spanish version of the "Oktoberfest in Munich". A leasurely walk through the city will take half a day on flat terrain. Since Albacete is famous for knife production don´t miss the Knife Museum.

understated and often overlooked, but Ciudad Real is really a gem. A lot of interesting museum (tho, some unfortunately couldnt take pictures of), a lot to enjoy in the city itself and even for day trips, you have cool options to Almagro or Damiel too. The rustic house was full of original features and had great views, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. Lovely views over Alcala. Bonus to find it had a little beach area next to the river, very safe for young children. If you had mobility issues, bear in mind some if the streets are cobbled and on varying levels. Very good place to take lovely walks along the river. Castle and cave houses are worth a visit, we enjoyed meals at Fongones el Chato, Los Robles and Taperia el Chato. Great adventure area for young people, kayaking, paddle surf.

Almagro is a historical city with a 16th century feeling. Get lost walking its small streets (like Calle de las Bernardas). Enjoy its warm people, their traditions (like Las Cruces in May), their excellent wine (both white and red), and food (Manchego cheese or lomo de orza at the Restaurante de las Murallas). Spend time in the main square (Plaza Mayor) and visit the Corral de la Comedia (a historical theatre that competes with Shakespeare's Globe).

This would be a great place to stay if you had business to do in Valdepenas or, like us, you wanted a place to break your journey on your way to Andalucia. The kitchen was very well equipped so we ate in our apartment as the weather was extremely wet. The town is centred around wine production and it would be a great place for wine lovers.
