Lovely room in a well converted barn. Very clean and everything well thought out. Plenty of plugs. Quirky. Very good value. Had a lovely meal in the Auberge next door which we had luckily pre-booked as it was full and there isn't anywhere else to eat in the village. After a long drive we didn't want to have to get back in the car. Breakfast was plentiful and varied, cold meats, cheeses, croissants, fruit, yogurts, juices. We couldn't do it justice with being full from the previous evenings meal! Would have liked to stay longer and explore the area more. Interesting Brocante a short stroll away.

    Our host Jessica was amazingly helpful in allocating rooms for a large party and for fitting us in at breakfast for an early start. She was also helpful in many small ways, such as opening check in at a different time to accommodate us all, helping us to get taxis etc, The communication before we arrived and when we arrived was excellent. The location was very convenient for the No 1 bus to/from the airport and into Merignac and Bordeaux.

    A beautiful and serene chateau right in the middle of the vineyards. This may not be THAT unique for Bordeaux, but in Chateau D'Arche there's this feeling of an almost private visit. It's a small property with only 8 (huge) rooms and very personal and attentive service.

    Best to have a car.

    Best to have a car. We used our car very day to drive to various vineyards and wineries on both the left bank and the right bank. The location of the chateau is near the main highway and easy to access. There were ample local shops and restaurants within a short drive from the chateau to grab cheese, bread, and supplies.

    Very brief, as we were exhausted from travelling for 10 hours. As we had the dogs we walked around the local area, but not really taking much in. The hotel was excellent so maybe will return and spend more time exploring the area

    The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is incredibly pet friendly. Our room had a huge bed which was comfortable. Usual French style pillows. Excellent buffet breakfast and walking distance to a restaurant or service station cafeteria for dinner. Only possible complaint was no English channels on TV but then we were in France so not surprising lol! Will thoroughly recommend and stay again. Will also try other Ace hotels now to see if they're as good. Gets 5* from us.

    Ease of access to transport, grocery store, parking spot. Ease of getting in, feeling safe, secure and cozy. We arrived after 8pm, Marion was waiting for us with the keys and instructions . It was a raining day. We unpacked and walked to grab items for breakfast for our stay. Marion was a great help to us when we had a challenge with the electric car!

    The location and the female owner’s attitude. However, as the restaurant was closed and we had booked a table, he tried to move our booking elsewhere without joy. He was unhelpful in his excerpts. It’s very tired and worn out and uncomfortable, but her food is amazing!!! It’s worth staying just for her food. None of the advertised facilities are working, pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc.. and the bathrooms are dreadful. But don’t let that out you off!

    Sauternes is a very pretty village but also a very small one-horse town. we arrived on a Monday and all the restaurants were shut and the 1 tapas bar that is open doesn't allow for dogs (we chose this because there was a review from someone who was driving from the Uk to Spain, the same as us, and had a dog and they recommended this bar, however I think the policy has changed since then. Our hosts weren't very hospitable and sent us to Langon telling us there was a lot open there, however, there was only 1 bar serving terrible food. We wouldn't visit here again.

    For my situation, I needed car park and pets allowed, I wanted to go to the ocean which I did one day and it was amazing - I was too hot and tired to go another day due to no AC in room, outside temp 34 degrees. The area was nice, but I prefer countryside , for my requirements and budget there were no hotels in the countryside for the dates I needed - it all depends on peoples' individual circumstances, for some it is just one night stop over for the airport , I had several requirements , and would have liked another day at the sea. The immediate grounds of the hotel were nice with trees and grass area I could take my dog there first thing in morning and at night.

    A clean and comfortable hotel, good for those using it as a pit stop on the way to/from Spain. Its on the main motorway so a way out of the city centre so probably not good for anyone wanting to explore Bordeaux. The restaurant isn't open on a Friday night as the hotel has so few guests but there are plenty of food outlets nearby
