We went to the Interceltique Festival at Lorient.
We went to the Interceltique Festival at Lorient. The town was virtually rebuilt after World War 2 damage and is therefore not all that aesthetically pleasing in itself. However, a good base for hopping on a train to Quimper, Vannes or other 'pretty' destinations.Guest review byAlunUnited Kingdom - 6.0

The countryside around Larmor Plage is beautiful though Lorient is not the most attractive place. Port Louis is well worth the trip especially if you take the BateauBus which is a steal at Euro 1.30 each way.Guest review byaliciaUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Ploemeur itself is nice and has stunning displays of flowers...
Ploemeur itself is nice and has stunning displays of flowers in the streets you drive through! There a lovely Moriccan Couscous takeaway restaurant, and a free car park, centrally. Not somany cafes, though.! It is a bit inland. We stayed in LOMENER, which is a separate little village on the coast (but administratively belongs to Ploemeur), and has a stunning coastline and all amenities, including excellent ( and friendly) public transport ( buses). We loved the sea-front of LOMENER with it's variety of restaurants ( all with terraces). I think you can also hire bikes ( though we didn't). There are stunning coastal walks to be made both going east and west. There was a fun little local festival at the harbour side in a nearby village, one night, with a great summer vibe ( listening to live music by the waves at sunset, whilst sipping a cool beer!)Guest review byHélène - 10.0

I found the island to be absolutely beautiful and the people "salt-of-the-earth" and very humourous and kind to me when I attempted to speak my very poor French with them. I went off season so a lot was closed, but I enjoyed exploring the island by walking and rented scooter anyway. The Ocean water was *beautiful*. It's very dramatic terrain and weather made this descendant of Celts felt very much like I had been there before in a not unpleasant way : )Guest review byJacquelineUnited States - 10.0

We have visited Hennebont many times but usually stay with a friend. On this occasion this was not possible so we booked the Ibis Hotel, it was very convenient and we could walk to most places, that we wanted to visit. Good bars and shops and lots of walks, particularly along the Blave river.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
My accommodation was in Kerdurod, Gestel, not Guidel.
My accommodation was in Kerdurod, Gestel, not Guidel. Transportation into Lorient was by bus and the bus stop was adjacent the property, A round trip was 3Euros. My hosts were extremely kind and helpful which made everything so much easier, they took time to explain how to get into lorient which I visited every day to enjoy the festival, nothing was too much trouble for them,Guest review bylMichael - 10.0

We went for the first 4 days of the Inter Celtic festival and were amazed at what a vast area was set up with hospitality tents, marketeers, marching routes etc, plus also making use of the buildings and conference/convert venues already there. The whole place was filled with music at every turn, whether it was bands warming up, smaller groups or soloists playing in alcoves - the place was just buzzing all day every day. There was no shortage of places to eat ranging from snacks, eating on the hoof, or sitting down in various restaurants, and plenty types of cuisines to choose from. It is all very walkable with lovely squares and tree lined avenues, lots of shops and pretty harbour.Guest review byNatalieGuernsey - 10.0
I found Guidel Plages almost too good to be true.
I found Guidel Plages almost too good to be true. High Quality rental accommodation with idyllic views. Great beaches and a bakery that is so good. A few local bars and restaurants thrown in with a small port and supermarket. Busy spot but worth staying here and touring a little. I could live here and never leave.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom
