La Marine is built to look like an ocean liner from outside & the theme is carried on inside. It’s incredibly comfortable. The rooms are sumptuous & the amenities are outstanding. Towelling robes and slippers are provided, as are wonderfully-smelling shampoo, shower gel and lotion. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows. The staff are outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a warm smile and a kind word. Exceptional service. There is limited free parking outside the hotel but only 5 or 6 spaces. For 15€ a day they have secure parking in a nearby garage but spaces are limited there too.

The owner was extremely helpful from the moment we walked through the door until we left. Stored our luggage so we could go shopping on our last day. A very friendly host. The room was a very good size with a very good bathroom with an excellent shower. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The decor was fabulous a great care was used with fantastic fittings. A great deal of design has been used. I would highly recommend this hotel for every type of traveler. We spent a full weekend here for the 80th anniversary of D Day. We would stay here without doubt again if we return to Cherbourg.

The entire crew was exceptional: a team of young, enthusiastic and very helpful staff members, who speak English well. Their hospitability was 10/10. The breakfast sortiment was also above average for an Ibis hotel. The location of the hotel within the harbor is a big plus! Everything within walking distance. Disposable paper-cups in bathroom.

    we loved the whole experience of sharing this property with the wonderful host. Mme Francois couldn’t have been more welcoming, engaging and helpful. And also, her excellent grasp of English made up for our basic French. The property was warm and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed, and was clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The welcome and monitoring of the house dog was also very much enjoyed. Thank you, we had a wonderful time and stay, and will return again

    The hotel has the best view of the Mont Saint Michel. It was also very close to the shuttle service/ bus. The staff was extremely nice. Besides the amazing view, the rooms were extremely spacious. Dinner at the restaurant was also very delicious, we had dinner there every night.

    We arrived in late afternoon at hotel and toured island first in evening hours - great idea as less crowded and still light enough to wander the streets and alleys. Toured the abbey the next morning - around 11. Already getting crowded - should have started earlier. But well organized and flows well within the Abbey. Well worth the visit to see this unique and historic structure - magical.

    Cherbourg is dominated by a huge harbour where your ferry...

    Cherbourg is dominated by a huge harbour where your ferry comes in. The town itself is long from east to west, spreading out from the harbour. From north to south it is much smaller. The harbour area and the promenades are worth walking around and the central area at the Place Charles de Gaulle is the best area to relax in. It's also the ideal town from which to see other nearby attractions, such as a D-Day beach, the Bayeux Tapestry and Mont-St-Michel, all of which I visited. One word of warning - the French railway service isn't the best. The trains are subjected to many cancellations and delays and the ticket machines in the stations frequently refuse to give you a ticket! Railway problems aside, the town of Cherbourg and other parts of Normandy are worth a holiday and I'm so glad I went.

    We were not in the centre of Pontorson but in the...

    We were not in the centre of Pontorson but in the countryside about a mile or so towards Mont St Michel. Pontorson had a few places to eat out and we tried a couple and enjoyed them but we found that most opened in the evening for a short time and closed quite early (it was Mid September) which wasn't good if we'd been out for the day and arrived back later. There was a McDonalds as a last resort which we used rather than go without food but we soon learned to find somewhere to eat on the way if we were going to be back late. We can recommend a chain called Del Arte for a nice Italian in Avranches and other places and there is an Indian restaurant (Moonlight) in Dol-de Bretagne where we had a nice meal for a reasonable price. We found most places in Pontorson quite expensive but the food was good. The town was clean and pleasant enough with ample free parking.

    Nice summer town with a lot of shops and restaurants. Beautiful views over the north and south bays from 'the rock' in the harbour. Unfortunately, it took 20 min to walk to the train station and there were no buses there.

    The staff were helpful and friendly. We could not have asked for more. The location is dreadful and it is such a shame in such a beautiful town that the sad bikers go round the hotel on a circuit all night. The local police are nowhere in sight.

    Like us, many visitors probably only stay in Beauvoir to see the Mont Saint-Michel. However, with good accommodation and access to bicycles or a car, we're sure the area is well worth exploring further.

    We arrived by train and took the shuttle bus to the island. From the island it was a bit of a walk (40 mins) with luggage through the fields to reach the hotel. If you're by car/have a bike, this hotel is a good option. If you are - like we were - just walking, it is a bit far to reach the shuttle and restaurants. The hotel itself is nice, pleasant and quiet. Very helpful staff.

    There is nothing I could suggest to change Barneville-Carteret. We have been going there almost every year for about fifty years, sometimes several times a year. We love the whole atmosphere. We like the fact that you can buy a croissant from the boulangerie in Carteret and sit to eat it with a coffee at the Bar Du Port. We love the Saturday market in Barneville where we can sit at the Bar in the square with a coffee, soaking up the atmosphere and watching the world go by. We love to look at the local produce on sale, particularly the fruit, vegetables and fish. I always go to the gift shop, La Cigale, and buy lovely gifts which they wrap beautifully for me. In Barneville the Hotel Des Isles is just so lovely and relaxing. I could stay there a week on my own, just soaking up the atmosphere. It is wonderful just to sit on the terrace, with a drink, and look out at the sea. Perfect!

    Historic town with interesting buildings. Hotel was beside the river and there was a good path alongside for a walk in the countryside. There is a market on Tuesdays but we didn't have time to visit it.
