Everything! The location is wonderful and a great concept using a houseboat! The food and drink were great and it was wonderful to enjoy a local beer on the deck watching life in Verdun go by!

The space and comfort of the room was superb with a very stylish bathroom to boot. The location is unmatched and the hotel has an aura in its appearance that makes it stand apart. The officers of the French Army certainly knew how to look after themselves.

    An antidote to bland chain hotels with a warm family welcome, all around great staff and a fantastic restaurant. Also easy to find with parking front and back. If you want the latest, highest specification design and room features, this is not your place. However be realistic about what you are paying and enjoy the welcome, the food and the ambience - you won't be disappointed. We liked it so much we are intending a specific visit as this time we were passing through.

    I liked the ability to walk a relatively short distances in Verdun, to a wide variety of Cafes and restaurants, and monuments. I liked the variety of restaurants near or along the water front. Also, by car, it is a short drive to major Verdun museums and battle grounds and American cemeteries in the area. So munch to see and comprehend.i would have loved staying longer, but only had a two weeks to see other destinations as well. Also, It will be best rent a car at the Charles De Gaulle airport.

    Liked everything , the host was very helpful , warm and friendly . Bedroom was extremely spacious with tissues hairdryer , liquid soap etc . Also. a little kitchen with a fridge downstairs which we could use. Swimming pool was lovely . we had a fantastic time thoroughly recommend it .

    Lovely place.

    Lovely place. The owner was waiting for us to give us a tour of the property and show us the room and gave us a good idea of the menu for the evening which turned out to be a chef’s meal. Lovely foie gras and truit on pumpkin finishing by a white chocolate cake. Nice romantic evening in the bedroom... good sleep and lovely fresh breakfast with local products in the morning. Will come back

    Chantal was a wonderful host, the cabin where we stayed, and garden were beautiful, very rustic. If you want a different experience from a hotel in a peaceful environment this is a lovely place. It's not for hotel addicts, more for the outdoors type, perfect for us!

    We can't comment on Verdun as we only stayed one night at the beginning of our holiday. From afar it looked interesting but the area where the hotel is situated doesn't look prosperous and quite frankly safe. I am sure there other parts which we didn't have time and were too tired to explore.

    This is a charming small town in a region which begs...

    This is a charming small town in a region which begs exploration. The inventor or the bicycle came from here; markets and quality shops abound alongside the river and canal shoulder to shoulder with some really impressive historical buildings and beautifully preserved traditional houses. Bustling, yet relaxing at the same time. Good food is available in a whole range of restaurants and less formal eateries and, of course the Champagne region is right 'next door'.

    The place was stunning.

    The place was stunning. The manager Fabien was lovely and his staff were all really friendly. The meal in the restaurant was wonderful. The room we eventually stayed in was excellent, very comfortable with a nice shower and interesting fire in the old fireplace as well as a radiator. Great coffee at breakfast! The rooms were a bit hit and miss. Our first room smelled of stale water and drains which wasn't nice and when we found an old towel in the bathroom Fabien instantly moved us to a better room that didn't smell. WiFi in the rooms wasn't good. The room I'd booked was supposed to be in the tower and therefore a round shape and I was a bit disappointed not to be given that room.

    Heart of it by the river was very warm and intriguing, apparently oriented towards the people who live there and like to meet at the sidewalk cafes to talk and read newspapers; not a prosperous town on a well-travelled circuit. Rather sleepy in places, with awkward-hanging window shutters and walls that haven't been painted in many years. The old military fortifications are extraordinary to see looming over it all. We were only passing through on our way to somewhere else, so impressions were brief.

    Another note for our stay at Ibis, Bar le Duc. We were so appreciative that each time a guest walked into the breakfast room the concierge supplied freshly warmed croissants. It was a very nice touch.
