Absolutely Stunning Chamonix — A Must-Visit Destination! Chamonix is absolutely stunning — a truly beautiful mountain town surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Wherever you look, the views are incredible, from the snow-capped peaks of Mont Blanc to the charming streets filled with cafés, shops, and friendly locals. There’s so much to do here. I visited in September and it was beautiful. The area is perfect for skiing, hiking, or simply taking in the amazing alpine atmosphere. The Aiguille du Midi cable car is an unforgettable experience, offering views that feel almost otherworldly. The town itself has a wonderful mix of energy and relaxation — you can spend the morning exploring the mountains and the afternoon enjoying a drink or meal in one of the many great restaurants. Everything feels alive yet laid-back at the same time. Chamonix truly has something for everyone — adventure, charm, and beauty all in one place. We really enjoyed Grenoble.
We really enjoyed Grenoble. It is a nice friendly city with good transport. We visited the art gallery and the cable car. The scenery is stunning. We were only there two days but with more time would have ventured out of the city into the countryside. We would recommend the Belle Idée restaurant. After Grenoble we went to Aix. The first part of our journey was on a beautiful little train from Grenoble towards Gap. This went through the Alps and this journey was amazing. To be honest, Valence is an ugly city.
To be honest, Valence is an ugly city. The Rhone flows through it but alas large motorways beside it. The centre is a bit run down. If you are on your way and are near it, you can visit the centre and have something to eat. There is a nice park near the river.Guest review bybNetherlands - 8.0

Interesting town with cultural heritage. I was just passing through en route from Italy to London but it is a perfect stopover for one night. Unfortunately I was there on a Monday, when some attractions eg the castle are closed but I did visit the cathedral. I made 3 separate booking .You have to buy your own Toilet paper .room cleaning is extra charge .If I booked 3 times in separate occasions they must be doing the bed and give the cleaned room to me no matter its same room . I paid full price .There was a bug at the window and Room220 is right at the road where Tram runs 24 hours almost .Christina is very rude so be firm with her .The rest of girls are really nice and speaks some English.Christina does not know English at all .She should not be working at a hotel where mostly Foreigners stays .Guest review byfouziaCanada - 10.0
Lyon is a nice city with a town mentality (a good thing).
Lyon is a nice city with a town mentality (a good thing). Green areas within walking distance. Pleasant parks and public gardens without crowds. Lots of drinking water fountains. MAC (museum of contemporary art) is really worth visiting. The city centre is a bit crowded but that's nothing compared to overwhelming Paris. Regarding the Villeurbanne itself, river banks are green, no beaches, waffle booths or "tourists" with portable speakers near the river. The streets are mostly empty, though singing and shouting students sometimes appear. A nice quiet district in my opinion. Aix-les-Bains is a very pleasant town on the shores of the biggest lake in France: Lake Bouget. There are lots of restaurants and places to visit including a Casino, mountains and water sports.
