- From $245.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very Good - What previous guests thought, 2,046 reviewsIt was delightful from start to finish. Josephine checked me in and upgraded me to a suite, which was stunning, a fluffy soft bed, rich linens, a gynormous soaking tub, towel warmer, amazing water view of my Duart Castle, (where I will visit tomorrow), adjacent pool, sauna and steam room, foot bath, tea kettle for my camomile tea, day and night shades, room warmer clothes closet with ironing board and hair blower, Scottish water, caramel treats and pretzels. The most lavish soaps for bubble bath, hair and body. I especially loved the bamboo dental kit. Everything here is made so we'll that after Installation, will last for a very long time. Meaty doors, light switches and a beautiful authentic Scottish rug throughout. The staff was stellar, attentive and definitely accommodating. I cannot site anything that was missing or amiss. I will be returning soon to my ancestral home, with much gleeGuest review byLynnetteUnited States

I took a fishing rod and on the first night had bbq mackerel on the banks of Loch lomand as its very close. The hills are walking distance from the hotel so on the second day we walked up Ben ime. The views are spectacular if you have not been to the west of Scotland you willl be impressed and the location is so close to Glasgow, difficult to believe a large city is so close.Guest review byDr BeeUnited Kingdom - 10

I think Robert Burns is an amazing writer but he's all wrong about Inverary. It's a friendly town with wonderful shops, amazing food especially if it comes out of Loch Fyne. Stay at The George Hotel and Charlie, Sam, and the entire staff will create lifetime memories for you.Guest review byMarkUnited States - 8.0
Picturesque fishing town definitely worth a visit.
Picturesque fishing town definitely worth a visit. Access from the ferry port is via narrow roads with passing places. Numerous walks especially enjoyed the trail to the lighthouse. Distillery and cheese factory are a must. Good restaurant and art at the gallery on the seafrontGuest review byLesUnited Kingdom - 10

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. We might have even stayed a bit longer had we known it was such a lovely place.Guest review byManuel E.Poland - 10

Luss is a quaint little town with not many facilities but a useful local store. We were there for the Highland Games which were a fabulous life experience. The loch is gorgeous and the surrounding mountains are stunning.Guest review byCynthiaUnited States - 8.0

Kintyre is absolutely gorgeous - so beautiful, unspoilt, rugged and wonderful. Campbeltown used to be a little run-down but it was looking pretty good with lots of independent shops, two distilleries and a busy yacht harbour. Campbeltown is a good base if you need buses and amenities and for shopping in supermarkets.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Rothesay is a dump.
Rothesay is a dump. And I say that as someone who used to live 2 miles up the road. But you don't go there for the town. You go their for the sea and the beaches and the views. All of which aren't in Rothesay. In the winter it's really only Ettrick Bay that's accessible unless you have a car. But in the summer take advantage of the hop-on, hop-off bus tour which gets you to some really interesting places. Not many places to eat out in the evening, so be prepared.Guest review byStuart HamiltonUnited Kingdom - 10
Regular ferries.
Regular ferries. Lots of catering and pubs and quirky shops. Beautiful old churches and regular activities in the Castle House museum and the Burgh Hall. Swimminig, cinema, supermarkets. Lovely nature trails, walks and climbs within walking distance of town centre.Guest review bySTEVENUnited Kingdom - 10

Helensburgh is a nice little town on the Firth of Clyde, so it has a pretty waterfront and a seaside feel, although it is on a river. It is ideal in many ways, as the trains go frequently to Glasgow and even to Edinburgh if you are so inclined. But it is also very near Loch Lomond, only 20 minutes drive and also ideally placed to drive around the peninsulas and lochs of Argyll and Bute. We managed a day trip to Bute to see Mount Stuart which was great, although a long drive, but worth it. There are some very good restaurants in Helensburgh, we liked La Barca Spanish restaurant and also the Vintage Inn pub The Commodore. The pavements are flat and well maintained, great for pushing wheelchairs(like us) or buggies.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom
