We were only there 1 night, but has dinner and breakfast. Both meals were the best. Our family rank the meals, rooms, restrooms and staff. The meals at the Allanton stayed at the top of our list the whole trip. If you are looking to get away in a nice cozy atmosphere with service and food. Allanton is the place for you.

We have been coming now for a few years and have stayed 5 or 6 nights. The rooms are lovely with crisp clean sheets. There is a cosy lounge with a roaring fire, great whiskey and the staff are warm and welcoming. Upstairs there is a beautiful library type room and another large room overlooking the Tweed River. Breakfast is smashing always. Full Scottish.

Great little town filled with fantastic independent shops, the best Charity shop ever (Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland) and the fabulous Cafe U which does the best BLT ever! There are not a huge amount of restaurants but the Cobbles is excellent. Lots of good walks around the town and along the river Tweed. We'd definitely go back if just for the BLT!

Selkirk is not particularly special but it is perfectly located to visit a myriad of interesting places, the most special being the Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels. A must see, in my view even better than the Bayeux Tapestry. Melrose, Floors Castle, Peebles and many beautiful gardens are all nearby. Easy access to Edinburgh by road or train. 90 minutes to the wonderful Dumfries House.

Duns is well positioned in the middle of rural Berwickshire, not far from the sea, the hills ( Lammermuirs and Cheviots ) and many well known beauty spots, Abbeys and places of interest. It houses the Jim Clark Museum. He, along with Duns Scotus have put Duns on the map.
