FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

London has little of interest. we have been a few times so perhaps we are a bit jaded. But I would recommend country UK. We toured the Pennines, Cornwall and the Jurassic Beaches and would highly recommend them all. We also discovered new places like the New Forest which delighted us. We could live in all of these places. Everywhere but London itself which was hard work.Guest review byColinAustralia - 8.0
Very pedestrian friendly, well signposted.
Very pedestrian friendly, well signposted. Plenty of public transport. Many free museum/gallery choices. The museum/places of interest with admission charges were very affordable. Plenty of eateries, although choice of cuisine limited.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Seasoned visitors to Liverpool- whats not to like.
Seasoned visitors to Liverpool- whats not to like. From the local Shopping centre/Liverpool 1 to the shops/cafes/restaurants situated around The Albert Docks.. the amazing famous Liver Bird Building, the cruise ships ( if in) all the way to The Cavern Quaters/Mathew St...day/night life your stay in Liverpool will always be memorable! Everywhere is within walking distance or a short taxi ride. And everyone we meet along the way is so friendly.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Birmingham is a lovely place to stay.
Birmingham is a lovely place to stay. So vibrant with lots to see and do. It also is easy access to other places. We found people helpful and friendly. We had a meal at Lost and found. Wonderful place delicious food and attentive staff. We also went to see a show the Body Guard which was wonderful and made for the perfect evening. The trams are a great way to get around and stopped so close to our hotel we had no fear of being out late.Guest review byLorraineUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The sea front is lovely, some of the back streets need tidying up and better street lighting was very dark.Loved the trams. A lot of the buildings on the front need a face lift. Seems a lot of empty properties 😔Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Such a lovely place is Newcastle.its great for shopping and seeing the history of the city. But mostly, is the friendliness of the people. Certainly felt safe. Even walking in the evening. Great places to eat, I recommend Pho The food was delious and price was good too. Also Babucho, amazing food and great for special occasions. Brilliant service at both restaurants. Wetherspoons is another. With 3 floors you'll always find a seat and breakfast was lush. It is easy getting round Newcastle, either walking, bus which has many buses going to different areas and Uber if your in a hurry. Night life is great for the young at heart 😉 Revolutions and revolutions de Cuba are great place to go for drinks and a good old boogie, excellent service.Guest review byAnnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

The buffet breakfast was ideal for us and in a very quiet and peaceful setting. There were people around to help you to a seat and so the dining room didn't seem too overcrowded. The staff greeted us and that made a difference to our experience for breakfast!! The room was better than expected and we took a walk in the evening despite it being on a busy road. The reception staff helped with information about the shuttle bus to our terminal and it all worked well. We ate in the evening at the pub down the road which was very busy but good value food.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I was there for work but it's a lovely city.
I was there for work but it's a lovely city. I did find the homeless people unnerving. I normally study in London so I am sadly used to homeless people on the streets but somehow the Bristol ones were more threatening. I particularly enjoyed visiting a wild swimming site and a local National Trust propertyGuest review bykATEUnited Kingdom - 10.0

York Minster tour was more expensive than we had anticipated but it turned out to be really worthwhile. Loved the Shambles but surprised that most of it shut down by 5-6 pm. The Viking Museum was really very interesting and informative. It was my kind of museum with people to explain aspects and a short ride around the exhibition. Great!Guest review byFrederickAustralia - 10.0

Leeds is a city full of culture historic buildings and places and university. The areas near the river are getting more regeneration to make it attractive to locals and tourists. It’s buzzing with young people and night life. There’s a range of galleries and museums ,the library is a must visit . The variety of Restaurants and cafes offer satisfaction to all tastes and ages. I was pleasantly impressed with what Leeds has to offer. And the future is bright for this lovely city.Guest review bySamiaUnited Kingdom
