The place was just absolutely adorable, even if not on a beaten path (which is exactly what I was looking for), in a quaint little village, right by the shore. Absolutely adorable! I wish I could've stayed longer. If without a car, just take a taxi, Uber doesn't run there.

First the hotel itself. I personally think the hotel's location is excellent, and the interior of the lobby is very cosy. They have all the necessary facilities including a nice fitness centre. I had breakfast at the bridge as well and the food and coffee were nice. The view from where I was seated was beautiful. Second, the staff. I only stayed for a night so I did not interact with the staff much but everyone I did interact with were all so friendly, nice and helpful. They made me feel welcomed. Lastly, the room! if you're able I definitely recommend getting a room with a balcony overlooking the incredible view. The room itself was a very nice size. it was spotless, had everything I needed, and the bed had to be one of the comfiest warmest beds I have ever slept on.

Exceptional food, classy service, super comfy mattress and bedding, hidden getaway feel. My husband said that it might be the best cooked breakfast he has ever had (which is high praise indeed given we have been lucky enough to travel extensively to some very exclusive resorts and hotels around the world).

As an avid golfer there is no better place in the world to visit! The ambiance of the town is amazing - a mix of golfers, holiday makers and students from all over the world. The bars and restaurants are bustling but at the same time the town of St Andrews has a peaceful, charming and academic feel about it. Recommend the Dunvegan bar for a trip down golf’s memory lane, The Criterion - it’s a fantastic family run pub, The Jigger Inn which overlooks the 17th Road Hole of the Old Course and The Rule bar for a wee tipple or two. These were the ones we visited, there are many other to chose from - you are spoiled for choice! Bibi’s café is also a must for breakfast / brunch. A walk along the West Sands beach is a must and if you happen to be there on a Sunday, you can walk the Old Course - but don’t walk on the greens! We just love St Andrews!

Dunfermline Abbey - resting place of Robert the Bruce is well worth a visit. So is the Carnegie museum - birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, once the world's richest man, and a champion of philanthropy and world peace. Pittencrieff park is lovely for a walk on a misty morning. It's a lovely place to stay.

Leven is on the train line now, about an hour from Edinburgh. It's a bit of a one-horse town with only 1 restaurant open after 8pm, apart from a 60s style steak-house. If you're vegetarian, vegan, or lactose intolerant you're going to have problems eating in the evening.

My family and I had a fantastic stay in Inverkeithing and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore Edinburgh without the hustle and bustle of staying directly in the city. What really sets Inverkeithing apart is its unbeatable location – just a short walk from the railway station, which has frequent and reliable trains to Edinburgh city centre. The journey takes less than half an hour, making it incredibly easy to enjoy all that Edinburgh has to offer while staying in a quieter, more relaxed setting.
