- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 1,264 reviewsThe drive on the infamous scenic A82 was highly rewarding when we reached Isle of Glencoe and was greeted by Richard, truly the best reception experience we had in awhile after travelling in various cities. We travelled during Jan 23 and being from Asia, the mountains, lake, warm service and really comfortable rooms are the little things that made us really happy that we specifically chosen Isle of Glencoe as the highlight of our trip. The cosy, warm room was clean and tidy and the G&T complimentary in the room is really the best I had in UK. When in the restaurant, highly recommend the heartwarming cullen skink/chowder. Definitely coming back! P/s: If you have watched Skyfall, you'd definitely recognise the route when driving up. Enjoy the view!Guest review bysudistirarghSingapore

Inverness was very nice in itself with many restaurants, pubs and bars offering plenty of choice of local and all cusines, and was an excellent base for, as we did, travelling around to various locations in the Highlands.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10

Fort William is a lovely little town with a beautiful Loch, it is a bit touristy for my liking but there are so many wonderful things to do in or near by that it is well worth a stay here. The museum in the town is a treat, Inverlochy castle is a little treasure. The Nevis range cable car is a must, the views at the top are breathtaking and not to be missed. Also nearby is The Glenfinnan monument & viaduct, again absolutely beautiful views & an absolute must. There is more but we had a limited time.Guest review byRuth - 10

I enjoyed our autumn hikes both close to the lodge and further away in the national park. Fall foliage was gorgeous and great October weather. Our favorite meal in Aviemore was at Delaney's, a nice restaurant on the opposite end of town from the lodge. Though we have a rental car, we walked to restaurants and used the car for short trips to more hiking and to nearby villages. I particularly enjoyed a visit to Nethy Bridge and a charming restaurant, the Nethy House Cafe. If I ever return to the area, I would consider using that town as a base just as an alternative.Guest review byAnonymous - 10
Great walks and hikes.
Great walks and hikes. We are an older couple and did the Fairy Pools, the Old Man of Storr, and Scorrybraec circular loop from Portree. We also did a wildlife cruise which was fun and saw eagles, seals and dolphins. Visited historic Dunvegan castle We loved a dinner we had at the Dulce and Rose restaurant at The Bosville Hotel in Portree. There were 2 coops where we shopped for food. There was so much more to do but sadly ran out of time.Guest review byMANDEAustralia - 8.0

A small town with facilities as needed.
A small town with facilities as needed. A good base to explore Skye - we were travelling from ferry in Uist and broke our long drive for one night. We visited the wildlife hide nearby - the area is great for marine wildlife.Guest review byGordziejkoUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Lovely little shops to walk in and out of.
Lovely little shops to walk in and out of. You get to watch the loch in action with the four levels the boats have to go through to get to the next section. This is very interesting and a good place to watch this. There are many walks you can do along the Loch which are very picturesque.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
Thurso still feels a generally friendly town.
Thurso still feels a generally friendly town. The Visitors Centre was excellent, very helpful friendly staff, with advice, directions and postcards. The beach is lovely, and the castle very picturesque, though I have no idea if you can go round it as it is on the opposite side of a long inlet and I wasn't about to walk all the way round there on the off-chance. Good amount of shops, and seemingly banks still in the town. YNot offers expensive but good quality food. If you want a walk, or have a car, the Ferry Inn in Scrabster is a great place to eat too.Guest review byJonathanUnited Kingdom - 10
I found Kyle of Lochalsh really friendly.
I found Kyle of Lochalsh really friendly. The hotel I stayed in was amazing and the staff ultra helpful. The cafe I had baked potato, chicken mayo and cheese in was really nice and friendly, the food amazing. The gift shop beginning with O was lovely and I bought a couple of necessities for the rest of my holiday (scarf and beanie). The Islanders pub in the evening was really fun atmosphere and a good mix of locals and tourists.Guest review byJonathanUnited Kingdom - 10
