No trip to Whitby is complete without climbing the 199 steps to the church at the top and then a wonder round the glorious Whitby abbey. Great little town, lots of independent shops & the best fish & chips in the world!Guest review bylouiseUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely place with lots of shops.
Lovely place with lots of shops. We visited the cinema and Betty's while we were in Harrogate. Opposite the hotel were beautiful very well kept gardens. Unfortunately we weren't there long enough to visit other areas but will definitely visit again.Guest review byANNEUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Few eating places close at hand to venue but this is a good place for walking. Many hills which is not so good for those with limited mobility. Road system well signposted with fairly patient drivers (makes a change).Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

This is a lovely and picturesque town in the incomparably lovely Yorkshire dales. There is a lovely market square with nice shops and restaurants, a fabulous Georgean theatre, a terrific castle to explore, and a nearby ruined abby that is an easy walk from the centre of town. (Every town needs a ruined abbey, right?)Guest review byBeverleeCanada - 8.0
The Abbey is certainly worth seeing.
The Abbey is certainly worth seeing. The history is great and the fact that it's still being used is tremendous The town is easy to get around parking not too difficult and has a good selection of shops 👌Guest review byPorter - 8.0

We weren't there long enough to really get to know the village (town?) but it looked as if there were some interesting walks for the dogs, an interesting river, birdwatching oportunities etc, and quite a few pubs for a place that size! Always a good shout. It also lacked a really busy main road cutting through (at least, from where we were staying) so not much traffic noise and easy to get about without getting knocked down!Guest review byo loan - 10.0
Well what can I say an absolute little jewel of a town.
Well what can I say an absolute little jewel of a town. Plenty to see from the town square and high street. Down to the river walks, The Lady Chapel, The Castle. River boats (but only till October) Mother Shipton's Cave. Got to mention the very quaint and beautiful railway station. It is quite hilly but with patience and care it can be got around we are in our late 60's and we managed. Watch out for the blue plaques on the historical buildings reading them is a real eye opener. Plenty of pubs to choose from but the Worlds End Pub has to be our favourite. The food there was very reasonably priced. Portion size is very generous and well presented and the staff are lovely nice place to take a break.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

thirsk is not the biggest of places but it was very nice, only thing is, if you need a taxi, regardless if their is racing on or not, you cannot get one, it seems that the odd individual people have one car and thats it, there's no taxi company as such and its pot luck if you manage to get one.Guest review byjanetUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Settle is a lovely little town.
Settle is a lovely little town. We were there in the rain, but could still enjoy what it has to offer. The musuem is free to visit and a good way to learn a little of the history. Nice Chinese take-away thats good value too. Scenery nearby is stunning- would definitely recommend taking the train to Carlisle, across the Ribblehead viaduct. (Road route of settle to hawes is beautiful too, even in a downpour) We would definitely like to return to the area. A weekend visit was too short!Guest review byAngelaUnited Kingdom
