- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 87 reviewsAbsolutely stunning B&B with amazing host. The food was spectacular, the service was amazing, very large and comfortable room with all the details and necessities! The little extras that were provided were over the top! The location was perfect for exploring the island and the host helped us plan a route that got everything we wanted to see accomplish in one day due to our late arrival because of bad weather and ferry cancellations.Guest review byKhristaUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 76 reviewsPerfect location, close to centre of Stornoway. Easy to park outside free. Louie the owner was very hospitable and helpful. Communication was excellent. A lovely touch was the Prosecco and refreshments. Room was well decorated and cozy with a view across to the harbour. Would definitely recommend.Guest review byMandyUnited Kingdom

Stornoway is a busy wee town full of independent shops.
Stornoway is a busy wee town full of independent shops. I particularly like An Taigh Ceilidh where you are encouraged to practise your Gàidhlig. Only downside there are a few one-way streets which are confusing / frustrating if you don't know where you're going.Guest review byHallinan - 8.0

Whoever the owner is of this establishment is he should realise that a manager cannot run the place on his own even in quiet times. The managers approach to his job was perfect and his commitment to the customer was faultless. A person like him could find a job anywhere in the hotel trade these days as their are opportunities by the thousand everywhere. Just shocked to see him serve, clean rooms, do the drinks, serve breakfast and do all the computer work and probably lots of things i could'nt see. Seemed like exploitation to meGuest review byChris - 10.0

The house is wonderful as are the people who look after it - nothing is too much trouble if you have a query or need help with something The property is in a little place called Maraig rather than in Tarbert which is about 15 minuts drive away so trust the post code when it takes you off the Tarbert road!Guest review byAnneUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lots to do- look into visiting the north & south area- all are within a comfortable drive. Get a map that shows the highlights- nature preserve, beaches, distilleries, standing stones, castle ruins, Uist Soap, restaurants like Politician, Charlie’s, Westford- all worth a trip. Stayed in Uist Travel Accommodation- clean, well stocked, ideal location- loved Peter & Archie (proprietors)- couldn’t ask for more! Went above & beyond to assist & accommodate! Will definitely plan a return trip!Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Isle of Harris Brewery is an excellent place to eat & drink.
Isle of Harris Brewery is an excellent place to eat & drink. An Clachan is a very well stocked store with an amazing range of quality gifts and practical items upstairs. Borrisdale Tweed is well worth a visit for quality home furnishings. Kilda Cruises are great.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The Uist Islands were lovely.
The Uist Islands were lovely. We were very fortunate to catch the North Uist Highland Games in mid-July. This is an area for gentle walks and birding. Dining options are good but limited. Definitely a place to unwind.Guest review byFrederickUnited States - 8.0

This review is more about Lewis and Harris, Sandwick is a small suburb of Stornaway. It has an interesting memorial to HMS Iolaire. We spent 4 nights on the island. Although the weather was pretty awful, the island is lovely and we spent a fair bit of time touring Lewis and Harris. The Butt of Lewis is nice and there is a lovely walk to Eoropie bay with lovely sandy beach. We are interested in birds and found Red necked Phalorope, GND, Red throated Diver, Golden Eagle, Guillemots, Fulmars etc. Take the drive across Pentland Road it is lovely and good for birds. Sadly we didn't really have raptor weather (lots of rain). Stornaway is a bit limited - if you want to dine out book well ahead as there aren't many places and they fill up quickly. We enjoyed the Boatshed at the Royal Hotel for dinner. EVERYTHING closes on Sunday (including most of the petrol stations so beware).Guest review byPaul A. MooreUnited Kingdom - 6.0

There’s not much to see and do in Stornoway but it is an excellent base for exploring Lewis and Harris. It was easy to reach the main tourist spots of Ness, Callanish, Carloway and Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. Also not far to experience the stunning scenery of Harris including the famous Luskentyre Beach. In Stornoway itself, the walk to the Iolaire Monument and the visit to the Lewis Castle Museum were both worth doing. The best place for lunch was Lantair.Guest review byIsobelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The Lochboisdale area was a good base within easy reach (by car) to beaches, the South Uist museum, cafes, the hotel for food (plus local co-op) and lots of walks on Eriskay in the South up to Berneray in the North.Guest review bySmithUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Tarbert is quiet, but there are plenty of places to go to from there. It's nice to watch the ferry come and go. Lots of nice wee shops to browse. If you want to visit the distillery, check the opening times. It closes at 12.30 on a Saturday, so we missed it, not having checked beforehand. Be prepared for almost nothing open on a Sunday.Guest review byWilliamson
