We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel The Driftwood, which was opened in 2017 but still looks as if it was newly inaugurated. The picturesque location near the coast of Bexhill-on-Sea lends the hotel a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere. An absolute highlight of our stay was the delicious breakfast served at the hotel. The variety of choices and the use of fresh ingredients ensured a delightful start to the day. The hotel owners, Greg and Lihong, are exceptionally kind and hospitable, making sure that guests feel right at home. Their warm demeanor adds a personal touch to the stay that is hard to surpass. Overall, Hotel The Driftwood left a highly positive impression on us. The combination of peaceful location, tasty breakfast, and very friendly owners makes this hotel an excellent choice for a restful stay near the coast. Highly recommended!

Great decor and atmosphere. The single room was small but had everything you'd but very clean, the mattress comfortable. It's close to the city centre and the station, across the street to the beach, yet it's quiet (I was there on a Saturday night)

We absolutely loved The Cooden Beach. The weather outside was frightful, but the fire inside delightful. It was warm, cozy and very welcoming. The staff were so lovely and helpful. We mostly ate inside the hotel having visited family in the area during the day. The food was delicious. Everything we had was exceptional. The staff couldn't do enough. It was lovely talking to Ben S. Andre was fabulous at dinner. Robert at breakfast. And the Reception and Housekeeping team super. Thank you to all of them for making our stay perfect.

We were booked for one night in Bexlet.

We were booked for one night in Bexlet. The accommodation was awful. The bed linen, sheets, duvet and pillows were all damp and the heater did not work. The access was extremely difficult. The male contact by phone was not interested in our complaints. We decided it would be inadvisable to stay, as my husband had just recovered from pneumonia. We were lucky to manage to book in to another hotel which was excellent although it cost us £160 extra, We had stayed there before through Booking.com. For Bexlet I would give them zero out of ten and I still cannot believe that Booking, com could have actually checked out that accommodation. Dreadful.

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact.

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact. The Abbey and battle ground is good to see as it is a major part of this country's history. However, if you opt to walk around the battlefield make sure you make use of the free audio guide as this brings the history to life as opposed to just looking at a field. The Abbey/battlefield and town can be done in a day, but it is a good idea to have an overnight stay so that you can pace yourself and fully enjoy the place.
