A Cultural Crossroad
Birthplace of the father of medicine, Hippocrates, Kos is the 3rd largest island of the Dodecanese. Located in the south Aegean region, this green island has a temperate climate, palm tree-lined avenues, and crystalline blue waters, all accessible by bike.

Kefalos village is home of one of the most magnificent Kos beaches, as well as the iconic small island of Kastri. Our room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and efficient and although it was very busy we felt well taken care of. The kids enjoyed the pirate ship with the slides and also the water park which had some nice slides especially the mushroom one which our kids did not stop taken. Breakfast was plenty of options with all you can think of. Lunch had a nice buffet around the pool and the dinner at the Greek restaurant was very tasty. The animation team did a fantastic job with activities throughout the day and at night there was some Greek group dancing and singing at the Amphitheatre which gave a really nice touch to our holiday. I want to thank Fatma our guest relation manager for helping us with everything we needed. We came early and while waiting for our room we could use all the facilities including a rich breakfast. The food was good and had everything you needed. The beach was calm and had a great cool breeze. It' has some small rocks so take a sea shoe with you. After a few meters of rocks it's all sand.. but that was our favorite spot. The Beach bard had some drinks and it was chill. It allowed us to even take part in the night events straight out of our balcony. The location of this hotel is still good given how scarce public transport can be and even at times the availability of taxis. It's about a 5km walk to Kos Town and largely flat. Had a great stay at Anna Maria apartments & ate & drank in their bar, East Coast. Excellent customer service, the food & drinks were exceptional & special thanks to the boy with the beard (sorry I don’t know his name) he looked after us daily & was a credit to the staff. The apartments were very central & directly on the beach, Kardamena has a lot that offer, great bars & restaurants. Hopefully we’ll be back next year. We had an amazing time. Mastichari is lovely!
Mastichari is lovely! It is a chilled Greek village beside a beach with a small terminal for ferries to / from Kalymnos, and a bus stop that will get you to Kos town or the airport. There is a nice variety of tavernas for traditional Greek food, and a handful of bars. Prices in Mastichari are much cheaper than in Kos town! There are a selection of shops that sell a mixture of groceries, booze, and souvenirs. If you need a big supermarket, head up the hill out of the village and you will come to Constantinos, which has everything you need. There's also plenty of places to hire cars etc. The beach is right beside the village. It is very chilled. There are no noisy bars churning out loud music, or noisy motorised watersports. There are some sunbeds, but the beach is not dominated by them. Most of the holiday makers we saw were, like us, middle aged or older (this is not a criticism!). If you are younger and / or want a lively nightlife, this village may not be for you. Everything is fairly flat (unless you go up that big hill above the village), but you will need to tackle a step or two to get into shops and tavernas. The smaller hotels here will have stairs, not lifts, so do your research if accessibility is an issue for you.Guest review byPetaUnited Kingdom - 4.0

Flight from ATH (Aegean Air) very good. With luggage in-hand, we got in-line for a taxi to take us to lodging. Terrible experience. Must have been 35++ people in-line, A few taxis came initially. Wait was over 30 minutes. Standing in sun. It took a long time to get a taxi. Way to long. First impression of Kos, very poor. Then, our taxi driver could not find our lodging in the Kefalos area (think this was a rare event, as our lodging was NOT on the taxi drivers GPS display...???). Finally used Google Maps and that worked. Trip was off to poor start and never got better. Disappointed in Kos ground transportation. Have traveled a good number of the Greek Islands. It's a very small town, there isn't much to see or do.
It's a very small town, there isn't much to see or do. You can pretty much walk in two directions. But Tigaki is close, there's a bit more variety of restaurants and bars and cafes. The beach in Marmari is perfect though! And it's very safe and quiet. I would recommend renting a car anyway, because there's not much else to do and you will be more flexible that way. It was an amazing stay at Agios Fokas. The Hotel has great facilities and allocated in the nice quiet part of Agios Fokas, not far from thermal water. The atmosphere at the hotel was really nice. When we arrived at Villa Milan we were overwhelmed by the countryside location, the large pool and the sea views. It was so easy to relax there, but it was also in close proximity to the water park, beaches, shops and restaurants. We had a hired car and went out every day to explore the island, which is not large, so we covered a lot, and the roads are quiet. The villa had everything we needed and more; spacious rooms, tv, wifi, well equipped kitchen, bbq, air con, fans... and so on. As a family of 5, we really did have a fantastic week here, swimming in the pool and at beaches, the waterpark close by, exploring and of course eating lots of lovely local food. Loved walking around in the city center and having lunch here during the day, but we mostly had dinner along the beach. Lots of things to see, many boat trips (3 Island Trip with the Oddysey and Nisyros trip highly recommended). Beach: We loved going to Tarzan and using their sunbeds.
