FAQs about hotels in Istria
Land of History, Sun and Wine
The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.
Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.
The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.
Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.
Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.
Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

- From US$290.49 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 4,104 reviewsThe breakfast is 10/10 and has everything that you want/need. The attention to details in every aspect is above the roof. Bathroom and the room are very spacious and has everything that you need, always clean. The terrace is enormous and we enjoyed it a lot. The beach we did not use since we were staying in April, but instead we walked around the hotel and city. Near the hotel there is park that has very nice paths and nature, very good for relaxing and filling your batteries. Staff is very helpful and nice and big kudos for the pet friendly environment, absolutely loved it!Guest review byAnaNorth Macedonia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,796 reviewsBeautiful very well equipped tents (airco, nice kitchen, very good beds), service was great (fresh towels every day, transportation service on request, free bikes for the kids, very friendly staff), very well designed site with a lot of free spaces between the tents, no traffic allowed on the site – so the kids can bike around safely, free beds at the beach. Very close to cape Kamenjak, which has beautiful beaches. Nice restaurant available on campsite. I would also recommend to go to the fish restaurant just outside the campsite. We would definitly go there again.Guest review byElkeBelgium
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 3,341 reviewsWe were staying in Premium family mobile homes. We liked everything and especially the fact that we were finding the AC on when we got there and it was so hot outside, 39 degrees C... The location, the facilities were just amazing! Makes you feel like home, you can cook, you can do barbecues, you can shop from the supermarkets, eat at the restaurants, McDonald's is nearby... You've got plenty of choices in entertainment... You can rent boats, you can go over to the water park or just enjoy by the pools. Perfect and close to the sea...Guest review byDaniela RegianRomania
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,580 reviewsCamp is excellent; big enough so you can spent a whole day just walking through it; you can choose different sports or you can rent a bike, greenery outside is well arranged so big applause to people who are taking care of greenery. Location is really good; you are just few km far from Umag but also other small towns in central Istria are just 30 minutes away. I always like to come back again here with my friends especially in this period of year when it is not so crowded.Guest review byMirellaCroatia

But we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay and wish we would have had more time to stay longer. Also the buffet restaurant is great Vue for money or you can go shopping to the supermarket and the on site greengrocer. We will definitely be back.Guest review byStuartUnited Kingdom

Beautiful city packed with history, culture, fantastic food and great amenities, all centrally located. Everywhere easily walkable, but good local bus services run too. And Pula central bus station runs coach services intercity across the region that are easy to book and affordable, making Pula an excellent city to visit, and base for visiting Croatia.Guest review bydjallenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The town of Umag has a charming coastal feel particularly at the historic centre. There are plenty of food options, lovely sunsets and a motorised 'train' to transport people from their resorts and hotels to the town for only 4€. Prices overall are very reasonable compared to other European destinations.Guest review byVincentUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Vrsar was charming and small, much more welcoming than over-crowded Rovinj. We got a nice welcome and great tips from our host and felt a much more local-friendly vibe. Services were good quality and there were fewer tourist traps than in Rovinj. Overall a very cosy, relaxing experience, I wish we could have stayed longer.Guest review byVeraHungary - 10.0
Small, not so crowded village on the Istrian coast.
Small, not so crowded village on the Istrian coast. The beach stretches the whole length of the village. It's located close to Pula (10 mins by car ) and Rovinj ( 25 mins by car ), and has direct access to highway. The ships to Brioni national Park leave from Fazana so that is also a bonus. The location is great for anyone who wants to enjoy Istrian villages without to many people. In the evening, when all the tourists from National park leave, the village really becomes peaceful and tranquil. We've came 4 times till now. Hoping to come again soonGuest review byVukSerbia - 6.0

Very busy town very clearly oriented to beach tourists, little to no historical or scenic attractions. Traffic is a nightmare in the mornings and evenings. A few traffic lights at pedestrian crossings would probably improve flow overall.Guest review byAlexanderSweden - 6.0

Rabac has is a pretty but v small beach front village. If you don't expect much its fine but there is not a lot to do round there and buses are few and far between and taxis expensive in relation to distance.Guest review byJHESLIN1United Kingdom - 10.0
Funtana itself is a small place.
Funtana itself is a small place. A few (very good) restaurants, a big supermarket, a marina. And a few very big camping sites. So it's not a place where you have a boulevard to walk in the evening with shops and a lot of people. These are in cities like Porec, 10 kilometers away. For us it was perfect, we took the car and came back in a calm and peaceful place. Without a car you might get bored.Guest review byRolandPoland
