I booked a room being on a train to Debrecen, and the reception immediately sent me the guidance how to get to the hotel. The hotel is located in the forest, but it is very easy to get there by bus (HUF 550) from Debrecen rail station. The pool, gym, restaurant - everything was great and not that pricey. The staff was helpful, they helped me to extend my stay for one more night without moving to another room. Massage was okay too. The neighbourhood is fantastic! Debrecen is a wonderful city to visit and live in.
Debrecen is a wonderful city to visit and live in. It has a charming mix of history, culture, and modern life. The city center is very walkable, with beautiful squares, cozy cafés, and the impressive Great Reformed Church as a landmark. Public transport is easy to use, and the tram line makes getting around the city straightforward. What makes Debrecen especially nice is its relaxed atmosphere compared to Budapest — it feels calm and welcoming, yet still lively with students and young people thanks to the University of Debrecen. The university itself and the surrounding park are absolutely worth a visit. For nature lovers, the Nagyerdő (Great Forest) area is perfect for walks, cycling, or just relaxing. There are also thermal baths and wellness options that make the city feel both vibrant and restful. Overall, Debrecen is a clean, friendly, and affordable city with plenty to see and do without the rush of a capital. A small, sleepy town, whose biggest "attraction" are the once famous thermal baths. Don't be fooled! This thing may have impressed party dignitaries in 1971, but today it is just a large, empty, sad, neglected and outdated place with almost no people and almost everything closed. Just a few pools of hot, tea-colored water and that's all. It's not worth it. It's better to eat goulash in one of the local restaurants on the main promenade (very tasty) and continue on your way. The hotel's location is famous for 2 additional options: M3 Outlet Shopping Center vis-a-vis the hotel and Archaeopark Polgar - recreated small village about land life ~ 800 years ago. The former is open/closed based on COVID restrictions, the latter is closed down for several years now. Beside the latter there is an interesting wood arch bridge (you can see it from the highway) on which you can walk over to another wide meadow field on the other side of the country road - good for a 45 min hike.Guest review byChrisGermany - 10.0

Hortobágy is a fantastic destination of Hungary. If you wanna relax and forget about all of your city life than it's a perfect Holiday Program. Don't forget to take a carriage to the Horse Show programs, it starts at 10 am, 12 am. It will last a lovely 1.5 hour. Get back to the village and have a cool traditional Hungarian dish. This town is a must see! Wonderful museums (Agora, Modem, Déri), hidden gem cafes (Vintage World), thermal water (Aquaticum), concerts and other shows at the Kölcsey Cultural center, a walk in the Big Forest near the University or in the historic town center with amazing architecture and the emblematic Great Church. That's a small city, therefore not so many attractions besides the spa. Speaking of spa, there are two separate ones: - closer to the center there is the one with medicinal thermal water - in the autumn being mainly populated by pensioners - the aqua park is the second one - that's quite big, but I don't see as being well designed - if it's about the aqua park, I like better the one in Mako If it's about restaurants - there is a nice one at Hotel/Restaurant Nelson. Vibrant town in Eastern Hungary, with long history, and modern vibe. Worth visiting for the main sights: the "big church" and the "big forest", Déri museum and the Zoo, but also for the nightlife and the cafés and restaurants. Easy access by train, plane and motorway, and a peaceful yet vibrant inner city with a nice pedestrian quarter. Good shopping in two plazas and some shopping centers outside of the city. There is also a theatre, the university with events going on, a health spa and aquatic wellness center and even a puppet theatre for the kids!
