Once upon a time, nestled in the enchanting Uluwatu part of Bali, there was a magical place called Onaya Bali Resort. This luxurious haven was surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature, making it a perfect escape for weary travelers seeking tranquility and renewal. Our fairy tale adventure began the moment we arrived at Onaya Bali Resort. We were warmly greeted by the friendly staff, who welcomed us with genuine smiles and open hearts. The staff at Onaya Bali Resort made our stay truly exceptional. Their genuine warmth and hospitality made us feel like royalty. They attended to our every need, ensuring our stay was nothing less than perfect. Each meal was a feast, with delicious, locally-sourced dishes that delighted our taste buds and nourished our spirits. And so, our story at Onaya Bali Resort ended, but the memories we made will last happily ever after.

The ye property is so clean and the staff are just amazing. The breakfast was definitely the highlight of our stay. The pool area is also well kept. When coming back you’re always greeted with a warm “welcome back home”, awesome. The staff were so kind, they prepared and packed a breakfast for us when we were checking out. Great experience. FAQs about hotels in Bali

An Island Dream

The dream destination of Bali is where volcanic landscape meets lush rice terraces and pristine beaches. Not to mention the fantastic surfing, cheap shopping and pervading spirituality that have made this Indonesian island a long-time favourite for backpackers.

The island’s capital is Denpasar in the south, but its surf and party capital is nearby Kuta. Swaying palm trees line the beach here and many more cover the grounds of the Bali hotels on the beach in more exclusive Seminyak to the north.

On the island’s north coast, Pemuteran beach offers lovely views of the sloping mountains heading towards the Bali Sea. Many beaches on this coast are black sand, including sweeping Lovina beach from where dolphins can often be seen. Tulamben in the east is one of the better diving resorts in Bali, while Sanur is a popular option for families.

Ubud is the island’s cultural capital and houses a monkey sanctuary in its jungle-like landscape. An ancient Hindu temple is found here, but the best-known temple is Tanah Lot, surrounded by water. There are also hundreds of fantastic spas in Bali, as well as meditation and yoga classes that you can join.

Whether you choose to stay inland or by the beautiful coastline, Booking.com has a great range of villas, guest houses and hotels in Bali.

Our stay was nothing short of a spiritual journey, and it touched our hearts in ways words can hardly express. We chose the private One-Bedroom Suite, which offered not just a place to stay but an oasis of peace, complete with a private pool and net that seemed to invite us to sink deeply into the surrounding natural beauty. The view was beyond description, a volcano mountain rising majestically above a lush jungle, a sight that felt like a direct connection to the earth’s soul. Every moment spent in that room was a reminder to pause, breathe, and simply be. The staff were incredibly warm, kind, and attentive, making us feel like family. Their service was outstanding, and always helpful. The open-air spa is a must there!! it was a perfect place to unwind, offering a peaceful and holistic experience. The villa is located just 10 minutes from restaurants, grocery stores, and money exchange offices. Virgin Beach, a must-see destination, is just a 50-minute drive away, and Gembleng Waterfalls are only 15 minutes by car. Plus, you can rent a bike directly from the hotel to explore the area. Patal Kikian Villa was the highlight of our entire trip in Bali!!! An unforgettable experience we’ll definitely be returning to.

If you’re seeking something truly unique, Bambu Indah is the place to be. Every inch of this property is meticulously designed with a keen eye for detail, brimming with delightful surprises around every corner. We had the pleasure of staying in the Moonhouse, which boasts a breathtaking view of the forest with an open setting. Waking up each morning to the lush greenery was like magic. Highly suggest you to take a walk around the property, don’t be scared to get lost. Treehouse will be our next destination on the list if we visit next time.

Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road becomes a practiced art. Pavements are a real problem as they are narrow and badly broken up, tripping hazards are commonplace. The roadside kerbing is much higher than normal so for anyone struggling with any type of walking disability, beware. Basically there are just too many tourists and day trippers which makes for even more traffic and crowding. Feels like I should have come here 25 years ago and would have found a completely different vibe. Taxi journey to and from the airport took two and a half hours through stop-start heavy traffic and a million scooters.

Canggu is a party place more than sightseeing.

Canggu is a party place more than sightseeing. The beach close is quite nice (also for surfing) and in the night you can go close to the beach to visit some bars and clubs. The vibe is constantly there. You can also join some local hostel events and meet people there which is nice. More of a young people place, but always worth a visit.

Always somewhere to eat in Seminyak.

Always somewhere to eat in Seminyak. From bustling Eat Street to the quieter back streets. Ginger Moon is one of my go to places for food and Sea Circus for a great breakfast. Ku De Ta has been upgraded to a beach club atmosphere. I think I’d give it a miss next time as it has lost its ambience of a relaxed place to watch the sun go down now that they have a pool which was full of families. Easy to navigate by foot, plenty of relaxation or activity. Local convenience stores and money changer are easily accessible.

Uluwatu is certainly the tourist destination for fitness and wellness lovers, or those that love the coast. The locals are extremely welcoming, and whilst I don't necessarily recommend it, you can travel most of it on foot compared to the rest of the island. The businesses are a lot more westernised and is a great first stop for your Bali trip experience.

I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed...

I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed longer. I stayed at Prapat Beach, which was close enough to Penida Ferry Port and stunning, with an amazing view of Agung on a clear day. My accomodation was in a great spot and is as advertised. Sari Nadi Beach Stay is only a few k's from the harbour but with traffic, it took around 30mins. I did a tour of West island beaches, which I found disappointing because it was so busy, shoulder-to-shoulder busy! It felt it was impossible to really enjoy it with so many people. The walk down to Kelingking Beach might have been worth it if you didn't have to keep stopping for someone to get their perfect shot! The drive through the countryside was worth it alone though, and if your new to the island, it's a great way to get your bearings for a return visit. Crystal Beach was my pick of the beaches, just don't forget to bring a towel or change to hire one and a bed. Otherwise, you can sit at a table. Overall, I can't wait to go back! One tip, check if there are any days of (religious) observance when you stay. My stay coincided with Nyepi Laut, 'Silence of the Ocean' which means no water activity, great for me because it meant peace and quiet but not if you needed to travel that day.

This is a great place to stay - plenty of shops, massage and restaurants - the beach is lovely with a lot going on all the time. Some good restaurants right on the beach and lots of surf schools etc. There are lifeguards in one area, not always marked and in the same place every day - not moved to the safest swim area. But there are nearly always very competent surfers around and lots of people keeping an eye out. But take care, the currents can be changeable. We keep coming back to this area.

Nusa Lembongan is much more relaxed than Bali.

Nusa Lembongan is much more relaxed than Bali. You can also get accommodation with fantastic views and beach access for a reasonable price. So many activities to do such as surfing, snorkelling, diving, fishing, etc. Once you've been to Nusa Lembongan, you will definitely come back again.

Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants.

Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants. Rooms are tired in need of upgrades and painting , but were clean and a very powerful shower. Staff were amazing and a good buffet breakfast with fresh omelette/pancakes. Pool area was relaxing and could do with a few more sunbeds. Didn’t get to the beach but a good shuttle service available. Supermarket and ATM just across the road.
