FAQs about hotels in Bali
An Island Dream
The dream destination of Bali is where volcanic landscape meets lush rice terraces and pristine beaches. Not to mention the fantastic surfing, cheap shopping and pervading spirituality that have made this Indonesian island a long-time favourite for backpackers.
The island’s capital is Denpasar in the south, but its surf and party capital is nearby Kuta. Swaying palm trees line the beach here and many more cover the grounds of the Bali hotels on the beach in more exclusive Seminyak to the north.
On the island’s north coast, Pemuteran beach offers lovely views of the sloping mountains heading towards the Bali Sea. Many beaches on this coast are black sand, including sweeping Lovina beach from where dolphins can often be seen. Tulamben in the east is one of the better diving resorts in Bali, while Sanur is a popular option for families.
Ubud is the island’s cultural capital and houses a monkey sanctuary in its jungle-like landscape. An ancient Hindu temple is found here, but the best-known temple is Tanah Lot, surrounded by water. There are also hundreds of fantastic spas in Bali, as well as meditation and yoga classes that you can join.
Whether you choose to stay inland or by the beautiful coastline, Booking.com has a great range of villas, guest houses and hotels in Bali.

- From $288.51 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,196 reviewsAyana Resort in Bali is truly the best resort I’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink, flowers, and a cool, fragranced towel that instantly made us feel at ease. Our stay was in the Ayana Segara ocean-view room, and I was honestly blown away – the room and its view were breathtakingly beautiful. We dined at both Karang and Padi restaurants, and both offered fantastic meals. Padi, in particular, served authentic Indian cuisine, which exceeded my expectations. Every element—the pickle, gravy, flavors—captured the essence of India. Enjoying this food with such a stunning view was like icing on the cake. We also spent time in all the resort’s swimming pools, each offering a refreshing, world-class experience. The Rock Bar was another highlight, with incredible waves and a fantastic vibe. Kubu Beach, accessible by a lift, was also a unique experience. The Resort also offers a dedicated app where we could view a complete map of the resort, explore activities, and browse restaurant options. The app even showed tram schedules, making it easy to travel between different parts of the resort—an incredibly convenient feature. The resort’s hospitality stood out the most. Every staff member greeted us with warmth and politeness, making us feel truly welcome each time we passed by. Everything is so meticulously planned and thoughtfully designed that it left us speechless. If anyone were to ask me what my idea of heaven is, I’d simply say Ayana Resort, Bali.Guest review byShubhamIndia
- From $553.64 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 450 reviewsWe spent the night at the Moon-House. This is one of the most spectacular hotel rooms we´ve ever been. The feeling is like being inside the "Avatar" movie. The design is unique, using Bambu as the main material. The whole suite cannot be easily compared to any other "just expensive" hotel suite, then it is a complete different "experience". Also the surroundings are amazing, getting from the Hotel lobby to the room feels already like a "Indiana Jones" experience. The way goes through illuminated caves, then the awesome bambu-cabin elevator (30 m deep) that takes you down closer to the river, the restaurant and the rooms. The sunset view from the Sun-set Bar is fantasticGuest review byJuan GastonGermany
- From $134.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,711 reviewsThe sort of place that makes you never want to leave. Everything about this hotel is class - but what makes it stand out are the staff, who really do everything to ensure you are well looked after from the time you check in until you leave. The rooms are gorgeous, the food is exceptional (the breakfast was the best I've had in Indonesia), the massage in the spa was the best massage I think I've ever had, and I could go on. I had the privilege to meet the owner, who was charming and even offered to let me use the pool at the villas nearby. I hope to return, thanks very much all.Guest review byMatthewUnited Kingdom

The place had spectacular views of the lush greenery and the room and other areas were all clean. Even the food was excellent and was reasonably priced.Guest review byPatriciaPhilippines

Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road...
Ubud has serious traffic congestion and crossing the road becomes a practiced art. Pavements are a real problem as they are narrow and badly broken up, tripping hazards are commonplace. The roadside kerbing is much higher than normal so for anyone struggling with any type of walking disability, beware. Basically there are just too many tourists and day trippers which makes for even more traffic and crowding. Feels like I should have come here 25 years ago and would have found a completely different vibe. Taxi journey to and from the airport took two and a half hours through stop-start heavy traffic and a million scooters.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Kuta is now the quieter part of Bali.
Kuta is now the quieter part of Bali. Legian through to Canggu is the busier area now. Kuta is great for restaurants and bars. More suited to middle aged. Beach is not as good as Legian or Sanur, but acceptable.Guest review bysargentsteveAustralia - 8.0
Canggu is a party place more than sightseeing.
Canggu is a party place more than sightseeing. The beach close is quite nice (also for surfing) and in the night you can go close to the beach to visit some bars and clubs. The vibe is constantly there. You can also join some local hostel events and meet people there which is nice. More of a young people place, but always worth a visit.Guest review byVizintinSlovenia - 10.0
Always somewhere to eat in Seminyak.
Always somewhere to eat in Seminyak. From bustling Eat Street to the quieter back streets. Ginger Moon is one of my go to places for food and Sea Circus for a great breakfast. Ku De Ta has been upgraded to a beach club atmosphere. I think I’d give it a miss next time as it has lost its ambience of a relaxed place to watch the sun go down now that they have a pool which was full of families. Easy to navigate by foot, plenty of relaxation or activity. Local convenience stores and money changer are easily accessible.Guest review byCharleneAustralia - 6.0

Uluwatu is much more expensive and luxury compared to the rest of Bali. The place is under a massive construction renovation, there are construction site everywhere so it will be very different in a couple of years. We enjoyed our 4 days there but there is definetly less activities except for luxurious cliff restaurant and beach clubs.Guest review byAliceAustralia - 6.0

The Hyatt Regency hotel, gardens, grounds and path and beach directly in front are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Cant fault that at all. However walk a few metres along the pathway and there is rubbish and demolished buildings which detract from the environment.Guest review bySusanNew Zealand - 10.0
I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed...
I loved everything I saw here, just wish I could have stayed longer. I stayed at Prapat Beach, which was close enough to Penida Ferry Port and stunning, with an amazing view of Agung on a clear day. My accomodation was in a great spot and is as advertised. Sari Nadi Beach Stay is only a few k's from the harbour but with traffic, it took around 30mins. I did a tour of West island beaches, which I found disappointing because it was so busy, shoulder-to-shoulder busy! It felt it was impossible to really enjoy it with so many people. The walk down to Kelingking Beach might have been worth it if you didn't have to keep stopping for someone to get their perfect shot! The drive through the countryside was worth it alone though, and if your new to the island, it's a great way to get your bearings for a return visit. Crystal Beach was my pick of the beaches, just don't forget to bring a towel or change to hire one and a bed. Otherwise, you can sit at a table. Overall, I can't wait to go back! One tip, check if there are any days of (religious) observance when you stay. My stay coincided with Nyepi Laut, 'Silence of the Ocean' which means no water activity, great for me because it meant peace and quiet but not if you needed to travel that day.Guest review bySharonAustralia - 10.0

This is a great place to stay - plenty of shops, massage and restaurants - the beach is lovely with a lot going on all the time. Some good restaurants right on the beach and lots of surf schools etc. There are lifeguards in one area, not always marked and in the same place every day - not moved to the safest swim area. But there are nearly always very competent surfers around and lots of people keeping an eye out. But take care, the currents can be changeable. We keep coming back to this area.Guest review byCatherine AnnNew Zealand - 10.0

Nusa Lembongan is much more relaxed than Bali. You can also get accommodation with fantastic views and beach access for a reasonable price. Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants.
Great hotel in the middle of some lovely restaurants. Rooms are tired in need of upgrades and painting , but were clean and a very powerful shower. Staff were amazing and a good buffet breakfast with fresh omelette/pancakes. Pool area was relaxing and could do with a few more sunbeds. Didn’t get to the beach but a good shuttle service available. Supermarket and ATM just across the road.Guest review byJayneUnited Kingdom
