Very accessible from Reykjavik, and it was great having a few excursions avaliable right from the hotel. The location is perfect to explore west Iceland. We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!Guest review byAlexisUnited States - 8.0
The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason.
The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.Guest review byPietroItaly - 10.0

a beautiful coastal town and a great jumping off place for visiting the Snaefellness peninsula and park. Great fish and chips in a food truck parked by the harbor. A great view from the Helgafell hike near town.Guest review byMarkUnited States - 10.0

Olafsvik was a beautiful little town with everything within walking distance from our accommodation. The harbour wa pretty and a nice beach, we went on the whale watching trip and saw Orcas which was amazing !!! The roads in and out of town were quite snowy so u need a 4x4 in the wintertimeGuest review byWendy craftUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)Guest review byMelissa - 6.0

Stayed here because there was reasonably priced accommodations mostly on route to where we were going. The town is small, doesn't appear to be too much to it. The people were nice, it felt safe, and was by the water.Guest review byJennaAustralia - 10.0

Gorgeous mountain views, restaurant with delicious and fresh food overlooking the river, clean and cute camping pods with GREAT insulation, three hot tubs, dark enough at night to see the Northern Lights (even when it's cloudy!), friendly staff (family business), cozy lounge area with vinyl records and couches, troll garden, clean and easily accessible bathrooms, showers, and kitchen!Guest review byLexi NimmoUnited States - 10.0

Hellnar is the perfect location, close to all the major attractions on the peninsula and an ideal place to spend the night while soaking in the beauty of the landscape. There’s a charming little café just a few minutes from the Peninsula Suites that serves the best waffles with jam and whipped cream, an Icelandic classic. The views are truly out of this world, we’ve never seen anything like it. Cliffs, ocean, glacier, and moss all come together in the most breathtaking way. It’s an absolute must on your trip!Guest review byDorota KotniewiczPoland - 10.0
Beautiful, remote yet friendly place.
Beautiful, remote yet friendly place. Remarkably helpful tourist centre and well maintained roads and buildings despite remoteness. You need a car to fully experience the place. Come with your food for the stay as no shops in town. Hellesandur and surrounding villages are beautiful. Recommend visiting the spa in olafsvikGuest review byLuke BainesUnited Kingdom
