- From $122.37 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 503 reviewsLarge pretty property, though hard to tell from the outside because of the renovation work currently being done. Good-sized bedroom, comfortable bed, tasty and extensive breakfast, and an excellent and very well-priced restaurant. House wine was pretty good, as was the range of draft beers on tap. Food was a highlight of my stay, along with the helpful staff who provided lots of tips for hiking in the Grand Sasso area and provided detailed maps as well. Definitely a place to stay if you are visiting the Grand Sasso area.Guest review byMichaelCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very Good - What previous guests thought, 281 reviewsThe garden, mountain air and children’s play area was wonderful. The staff were warm and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and had a nice assortment of pastries, cakes, yogurt, fruit and salumi. The cappuccino were made to order and very good. In the lobby we enjoyed the comfortable chairs and couches. My kids had fun playing chess.Guest review byOctaviaUnited States

Sulmona ws a really nice, off the beaten path town to visit in Italy. It is the "home" of confetti, candied covered almonds, etc. We were able to tour museum factory where they have made these since the early 1700s. The old town itself is worth touring with ancient churches, many different street vendors, the farmer's market, etc. The town has some wonderful restaurants with authentic local cuisine.Guest review byKatherineUnited States - 10

The town is being revived and restored.
The town is being revived and restored. So I appreciated the historic aspect and efforts being made to bring in tourists. The road to the town was in great shape. With that said, there is really nothing to do there. We arrived on a night, I believe it was a Wednesday when all the restaurants but 2 were closed. The better restaurant was completely booked and we had to go with the only other choice open for our large group. The food was terrible and overpriced. Nothing else was open in town for even a drink!! There are many other places to go and see in Abruzzo, this would not be one of them. Maybe in a few years when the restoration is complete.Guest review byAnonymous - 10

It's such a nice little place with nice bar and shops in the neighbourhood, beautiful churches and view on the mountains. It's a very strategic place because you can reach all the places to visit in less than an hour (the mountains of Gran Sasso and the Maiella, the sea, beautiful towns like Sulmona, L'Aquila, Chieti and all the little places in the mountains during hiking (Caramanico Terme, Passo San Leonardo, Roccacaramanico, Pescocostanzo, Palena, Casoli in the Maiella and Bussi, Capestrano, Bominaco and Rocca Calascio). And everywhere we found nice bars and exceptional good food in the local restaurants.Guest review byHenrietteNetherlands - 10
Nice starting point for exploring Gran Sasso.
Nice starting point for exploring Gran Sasso. There are only three restaurants in the town, all of them very good ( we tried all three) but considering slim options advanced booking is a must ; we also had a feeling that they cater for only one sitting per evening. Be sure to visit also Ristoro Muciante which s some 20 km away - a self catering facility where you buy their meet, cheese and side dishes as well as drinks and grill them by yourself ( during peak season be ready for a long waiting lines - we were there after the main ferragosto time but still waited for half an hour).Guest review byMarjutkaSlovenia - 10

Celano is a wonderful old town in the mountains of Abruzzo, Italy. Touring the Piccolomini Castle is a must. The ancient castle, built in the 1300s, its museum & walking through the cobblestone streets is a look into a medieval era long gone. The people are friendly and you'll find many locals that speak some English. We, also, enjoyed hiking in the Celano Gorges. I'm planning on traveling to Celano again.Guest review byDianaUnited States - 8.0

Very close to other towns like Pescocostanzo, uno dei borghi piu belli d'italia and Rocaraso a ski resort. We were in Rivisondoli in August of 2022 and the town was completely deserted and nothing to see after dinner time. Several football teams were stationed there for their training.Guest review byLauraItaly - 10

We expected luxury in a uniquely rustic environment and we weren’t disappointed. The view from our room window was stunning as was the view from the restaurant terrace. Candle light created a warm atmosphere. But the highlight was the quality of the service. A positive culture which was contagious amongst the guests. Thanks to all. We ate at ala Locanda each night and were very happy with the diversity and quality of the menu. We hiked to Rocca Calascio, drove to the observatory and walked, had lunch at the refuge on Campo Imperatore where we BBQed our meat bought from the refuge. On the way back to Rome we visiting L’Aquila, the sophisticated capital of the region.Guest review byStephanieAustralia - 10

Popoli is a beautiful historic town surrounded by national and regional parks with crystal clear water and friendly people. It is well situated, being 30-45 minutes from the Adriatic sea and 30-45 minutes from ski areas in the mountains. Local food is very good and there is a Michelin listed resturant in the historic center. If that is not enough, there is also a thermal spa that provides various treatments for respiratory and skin helath. Oh, and there is a castle on the hill.Guest review byJuddUnited States
