FAQs about hotels in Sicily
An Island of Intrigue
The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.
Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.
Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.
Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

- From US$717.47 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 196 reviewsIt is significantly more than a hotel, it is a very large resort, with a completely private beach, a very large swimming pool next to the beach (warning: that swimming pool is not heated, so it was quite cold in May), a Spa complex with a very nice and long indoor (heated) swimming pool, and several also very nice and large spa baths outside (these ones with warm water). The Spa reservation system ensures there are only a few guests at any time, no large crowd, and children aren't authorized in the Spa complex unless the weather is bad. The restaurants were excellent, I particularly recommend to have lunch next to the large outdoor pool, but the other two restaurants and the breakfast are excellent. Very nice room, loved the large private terrace. Everything was top notch. We had a small issue with our shower (rain shower stuck), and it was fixed very promptly. All the staff was super nice. We didn't play golf, but you can use one of the freely available bikes to cycle around the golf course, which is very nice (it is a private complex, so no external car).Guest review byGr0fFrance
- From US$546.65 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,195 reviewsGreat location if you like chilling by the private beach or by the pool area on the rocky cliff, sipping drinks and waving at the boats that are passing by. It may be a bit far from main streets and restaurants of Taormina, but the shuttle bus takes you there every 20 mins, and the reception will get taxi at any time. Perfect place for enjoying amazing view of Etna, and beach side of Naxos, and would recommend this facility to any of my friends and families.Guest review byjdosSouth Korea

Away from the 2 main tourist streets, there is plenty to explore in Palermo - local restaurants and shops are cool. The market is at first overwhelming, but after a few minutes it's fun. We stayed 2 nights, but 3 would have been perfect (if just exploring the city and not going elsewhere),Guest review byJodiAustralia - 10.0

We didn't expect to spend any time here but ended up having more than we planned. The food was surprisingly great and the atmosphere, though filled with tourists, was still fun! The ruins are a must see!Guest review byJocelynUnited States - 10.0

Stay in ortigia. Its a postcard perfect town. Every street becomes a restaurant by night so all the streets are well looked after. The beaches in ortigia aren't the best but if you fancy a swim there's plenty of access for a swim.Guest review byThomasUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely vibrant town with stunning views, and an abundance of places to eat, drink and shop. The local bus station was convenient for travel to other parts of sicily either on your own or with a tour. The Bam Bar, la Neopolitan pizza restaurant and Ristaronte da Nino must be tried to be be believed.Guest review byChichekUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Immerse yourself in Sicily's history with a visit to Agrigento. From the breathtaking Valley of the Temples, visiting the home of writers Luigi Pirandello, Andrea Camilleri and Leonardo Sciascia to the nearby Turkish Steps, there is always something interesting to see and experience.Guest review byTerenceAustralia - 8.0

Trapani is a small city which deserves exploring and getting to know. Lots of hidden gems and beautiful sights. The Museum of Optical Illusions is great. Trapani is a good base for exploring the area by car or public transport. Our half day trip to Erice was wonderful; another day on a boat excursion to the Egadi Islands truly memorable.Guest review byJackieMalta - 10.0

Beautiful sandy beach, crystal clear blue water, with delicious restaurants everywhere. Lots to enjoy, from walking along the beach or simply relaxing in one of the many sunbeds available (for a fair price), to boat rents or boat trips to other locations nearby. Without knowing about it, we arrived in the last days of the Cous Cous feast, which was a great surprise. The city was crowded, but we could see how important the fest is for all the locals and the tourists.Guest review byDanielaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Giardini is literally a 10 minutes bus ride from Taormina.
Giardini is literally a 10 minutes bus ride from Taormina. Much more accessible to get around and a lot less expensive. It offers many dining options, beach (which Taormina doesn't), shopping and larger accommodations.Guest review byMariaUnited States - 10.0
We enjoyed Ragusa a great deal.
We enjoyed Ragusa a great deal. Ragusa Superiore, where the hotel is located, was easy to approach by car, which was useful for us and situated across from the street from an impressive cathedral. We enjoyed the walks down to Ragusa Ibla, where we spent two afternoons wandering the narrow streets, enjoying the sites, and were able to take a public bus back up to Ragusa Superiore with little trouble. Staying in the upper part of Ragusa allowed us to experience both parts of this small city. Both parts of Ragusa come alive in the evening when shops re-open, and people head out to dinner. Having coffee or granita in any square is a great treat, as is visiting green spaces, like the garden in Ragusa Ibla.Guest review byMaggieUnited States
