This was the nicest hotel we stayed in during our entire month-long travel throughout Japan. The decor is clean, contemporary and refined. The staff was exceedingly kind and gracious. The onsen was such a treat with luxurious facial soaps and creams. This is a hidden gem of a place!

This was our 3rd Japanese hotel for our one month vacation; to be honest all the hotels have been great. This one was wonderful, modern, large room, clean (of course, everything in Japan is!), the breakfast was super wonderful. We would always have our happy hour/dinner at the bar and they treated us like royalty; such a wonderful society.

Out of all the hotels I’ve stayed in in Japan, this one is by far the best. The room is very clean and fragrant, and has complete amenities in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It even has a washing machine that is easy to use. I also love the balcony - it has a great view of the train station. The staff are really nice. They communicate and respond well to questions. They even offered me extra bottled water when I requested for more. One of them also helped me with my luggage delivery even though he was on his break. The hotel is in a perfect location, just beside the bus/train station. There’s a FamilyMart nearby and everything is a short walking distance away. I really got my money’s worth. I would definitely stay here again! I had a lovely time.

Everything was exceptional. The traditional building was beautifully maintained and every corner was photo worthy. The staff were friendly and took very good care of us. Our room was beautiful and spacious, we had a wooden tub in our bathroom to soak in and amazing garden views from the windows. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. Onsens were wonderful and each one had its own charm and feel. The place is a short walk from the bus stop and next to the bridges and bamboo grove, allowing easy access in the evening. The stay at this ryokan was definitely a highlight of our Japan trip and we’d love to stay here again.

From the moment of arrival to drop off at train station, top class treatment throughout. It’s a historic, well-established hotel nestled in a quiet forest catering to celebrities and well-heeled travelers since 1894. Service and meal offerings were spectacular; the rooms modern and well-appointed, on par with any four-and five star hotels. Something that really caught my attention was the cushioned floors in the room; walking on them gave a level of comfort I’ve not felt at other hotels. And end your day at the iconic bar where John Lennon entertained those gathered on that piano when he stayed here.

The view of the Fuji mountain is the best thing in this hotel , Also the greenary is nice its like forest living - But again the Fuji mountain is super room's patio , Location is a bit away from city so no nearby restaurants or convienc- So going to the city center or the bus station will be difficult , The hotel provides bycycles for their guests which were very helpful to us . , Also pickup and dropoff from hotel is very helpful . , Staff is also very helpful .. , Overall we really liked our stay here.

The room was ryokan style with plenty of room and clean. The bedding mattress & pillow was comfortable. Got a massage after taking advantage of the onsen which was great after a full day of sightseeing. Had a buffet breakfast that offered a good variety of food options, both Japanese and Western for a reasonable rate on our departure morning. The location was easy walking distance from Takayama train terminal & a free shuttle service to the Hotel & terminal was available.

The rustic cottage is in beautiful area and very clean and comfortable. The host and his wife were wonderful and so hospitable. They are some of the nicest people we have met on our trip! They even came to pick us up at the station and drove us to a late lunch after when they found out we had a long day and hadn’t eaten. We also enjoyed the peaceful surroundings! Thank you so much for making our stay for our son’s graduation at ISAK even more memorable😃

This place took good serive to another level. From the start of my stay till the end, the staff went above and beyond to ensure the comfort for my husband and I for our stay there (for example, the check in was in the lounge instead of the counter where they guided us to our room, and the excellent and prompt service for our in room meals). Rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The access to the beach and the onsen facilities were great!

Enjoyed our side trip to inuyama castle - easy to get to by local train. Also a good trip to Atsuta Jingu Shrine. If you take a train on the Meitetsu Nagoya main line and get off at Jingumae station, an entrance to the shrine is just across the road from the station. (Main road, but there are pedestrian crossings). Didn't leave much time to explore Nagoya itself. Did get to Osu mall, which was quite interesting, but a little over-hyped we thought. Area round station itself was good compared with many cities - much more salubrious and more like being in a reasonably upmarket commercial/shopping area. Could certainly have happily spent another full day in Nagoya if our schedule had allowed.

Niigata is a refreshing small city, and the river has beautiful views of both sides. Each side of the river has green pedestrian and bicycle rider paths. There is easy access to the Performing Arts Center with its living rooftop garden on it's oval shaped building. Hakusan Park is not to be missed - an oasis away from the hubbub of office and city life! Complete with a lotus pond, bridges, a large temple, Tori gates, and a pond with a wisteria-covered bridge. Very scenic. There are the shops on Furumachidori - a covered avenue with adorable shops, bronze figures of baseball players, and the Japan Animation and Manga College is on this avenue. Along this dori you might see a box of turtles sunning on the sidewalk!

Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.
