Amazing location, cute view, very quiet. LOTS of restaurants nearby. Very clean room, and modern looking. I absolutely loved the bathroom which featured both a shower and a bath. Very cool for our 2 year old. Breakfast was delicious and featured a mix of Japanese and western style food. Staff was amazing and very helpful and spoke excellent English. One of the most pleasant hotels I’ve ever been too! Would come again !!

I recommended this hotel. Very close to Train station, only 2 stops from Kyoto station. The area is so nice and quite. Restaurants are easy to find. The staffs are very nice and helpfull. If you like walking, you just need to walk to Kyoto Imperial Palace, Nijo Castle, we did even walk to Gion, and you can stop for shopping heading to that area.

    My room was large with a very big shower and tub area and full size soaking tub. Everything was updated and the mattress was very comfortable. The room had everything I needed, including a small fridge and a handy in-room safety box. Breakfast was included with my room and I could choose between the excellent Japanese breakfast in the Japanese restaurant overlooking a garden, or opt for the Western-style buffet which featured made to order eggs and omelets and a wide array of delicious options. I liked the location near the Gosho Imperial Palace and the Marutamachi subway station. When I was feeling lazy I took the free shuttle to Oike/Karasuma, where I could catch two different subways (east-west and north-south). The open atrium in the center featured a coffee shop/bar and was a pleasant place to chat with friends. I used to live in Kyoto and this is one of my favorite parts of town, very convenient yet quiet. I can speak Japanese, but was glad that the front desk staff included some very good English speakers. I found the staff at this hotel very friendly and professional throughout the property. After staying for one week, I found it very hard to leave. I will definitely be back.

    The location is good, the lobby has a relaxed atmosphere, and the Gion Festival music is really understated and elegant. The staff at both check-in and check-out were quick to work and friendly. The room was clean and the bed was my preferred firmness for a good night's sleep. Bottles of drinking water were also provided, which was helpful. The reception staff at the breakfast room was also sophisticated and helpful. I believe there were several breakfast items that were probably home-cooked Kyoto food. They were a little sweet for me, but I enjoyed the Kyoto flavor. I think that many people would probably find a hotel in Shijo more convenient than Kyoto Station, depending on their destination, but since I was attending a conference near Kyoto Station, it was the best option for me.

    Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.

    Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

    Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.

    Kyoto is a very beautiful City to visit. We enjoyed very much exploring Kyoto. Beautiful city with a lot of history. It is was very interesting to see places like ; Fushimi Inari , Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ginkakuji Shrine, go on Philosopher's Walk , Nanzen-ji, Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama , Arashiyama Bamboo Park plus many more places.

    I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

    We loved Kyoto.

    We loved Kyoto. We loved the people and the food and the beauty. We started with an e-bike tour of the city which helped orient us to the landscape, history, and culture. Google maps had bus and train routes and times, which helped immensely with transportation. We took taxis a few times when bus service wasn't timely, and the fees were very reasonable. Kyoto was hot and humid, but dressing in free flowing, cotton clothes, using sun umbrellas like the locals, and drinking lots of water with electrolytes made life fairly comfortable. Our favorite outings were the river boat ride down the Hazugawa River, really fun and a chance to see some back country, and climbing up Mt Inari through the Thousand Torii Gates. We climbed in the late afternoon and returned down the steps in the twilight, a truly magical experience. Bring lots of water and plenty of energy. It's a long way up.
