- From $149.27 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 339 reviewsWe stayed at Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa for 8 nights and were 100% satisfied. The food was excellent, with plenty of variety - spicy local dishes, continental options, lots of seafood, fruits, and yummy desserts. It was easy to find kid-friendly meals, and the restaurant staff were top-notch. Our cottage was spacious, quiet, and very comfortable, with great soundproofing from top neighbors. Housekeeping was fast and flawless special thanks to Thasitha and Viraj for keeping everything spotless. The resort was peaceful and not too crowded. The pool was clean and well-designed for both kids and adults, with a nice bar nearby. The beach was beautiful and perfect for swimming in June. We also loved the kids’ animation. Richie, the animator, kept kids entertained with fun activities, giving parents time to relax. He was friendly, creative, and great to chat with. This was one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in - clean, cozy, family-friendly, and well-managed. Highly recommended!Guest review byAnahitArmenia
- From $264 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 204 reviewsThis is definitely the nicest hotel along this stretch of beach. The pool was absolutely amazing especially as it's not a great place to swim in the sea on this particular part of the beach due to corals shallow water. If you want to have a good swim you need to walk further up the beach. but the pool was so great I didn't care! The setting is fabulous. I loved the crows in the palm trees and the nature. The room was huge and extremely comfortable. The pillows fabulous and the mattress and everything really comfortable. I loved that they had the option of a ceiling fan. I did look at the other hotels on a walk and I'm glad I picked this one ! The laundry service was fantastic and managed to get a stain out of a really badly stained shirt. Miracle workers! The staff are very kind and helpful and will go out of their way to make things nice.Guest review byCordeliaFrance
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 689 reviewsLoved everything about this stay. It was very relaxing. The hotel has used the land and the private beach area in the most efficient manner. Very picturesque with the blue colour waters, we took a lot of photos! You can either swim in the private beach of the hotel and see corals, or walk over to the public beach without corals. The pool was good, lounge beds spreaded over the area provided a nice place to experience the wind and the sunsets. There was a lot of guests at the hotel but it did not feel overcrowded. Staff are very polite. Buffets were nice. They also had a place to play board games. Also jet ski, paddle boats etc were offered for additional charges. Staying for more than 1 night was a good choice. Will definitely go again.Guest review byUmeshiSri Lanka
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 148 reviewsThe first impressions were great and one of the most calm and relaxing places I have been to. The place is full with great hospitality and they were so nice and accommodating. One of the best beaches in Sri Lanka and the beach is just near to the Villa. Very much affordable rates and it’s worth to the amount you pay.Guest review byDasithSri Lanka

Batticaloa was warm and humid, but that is more than made up for by its breathtaking beauty and abundant seafood. The town is exceptionally clean, surrounded by water, and radiates a serene charm. Pasikudah, in particular, took our breath away. With its pristine beaches and tranquil waters, it’s nothing short of amazing—a true gem on the eastern coast.Guest review byJohnIndia - 10.0
Kalkudah is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka!
Kalkudah is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka! The water here has an amazing emerald colour and it is very clean, transparent. It is a very long and beautiful sandy beach with a free natural spirit, with hardly anyone around. We enjoyed swimming almost all the day! No tourist attractions but some restaurants like Laya Waves are and Swiss Cafe on the shore are the options. Kalkudah works fine for yoga, meditation, walking along, etc. There are some cows and their manure in some spots, but it is better than plastic garbage. Some days the waves were bigger than Passikuda, but no corals on Kalkudah. Comparing to Passikuda we liked Kalkudah much better. Passikuda is over crowded with a long chain of luxury hotels and is not as beautiful. Anyway if anyone is coming with children Passikuda has shallow waters, as well as some tourists attractions. In any case, on Kalkudah one can dig a hole in the sand for children, where the ocean water will come, while making the natural baths that way.Guest review byPolinaSri Lanka - 10.0

We had an incredible time in Pasikudah, snorkeling in the clear waters and enjoying the vibrant marine life. The morning, we were greeted by the stunning sunrise, creating the perfect start to our day. The delicious seafood we indulged in was another highlight, adding to the overall unforgettable experience.Guest review byHansaniSri Lanka - 8.0

I think the main reason to go to Pasikuda is for the beach which is beautiful, with white sand and clear water, and where it is safe to swim. Beyond that there is not much to see - I had the impression the area is quite poor and there are not many restaurants outside the ones in the hotels.Guest review byCarolineUnited Kingdom
