Everyone is hospitable, kind, and helpful, from the chef and the cleaner to the owner. The food in the restaurant is top-notch and quite affordable. Once, I didn’t like my meal, and they refused to charge me for it, which is something that rarely happens in Europe. Essentially, Europe should learn the principles of hospitality from the people of Mauritius. A warm recommendation for Le Pole! P. S. Chef from Kongo is making best cocktails! Great guy

We spent eight nights at the Coral Azur. I highly recommend the hotel. Below are the specifics. We arranged transportation to/from the airport with hotel. We had five adults. The total round trip cost per person was ~$40 USD. It was efficient and easy. The rides to/from the hotel were just under an hour. All communication with the hotel was efficient. We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 PM. The check-in staff allowed us to eat off the buffet (closed at 10 PM) for no charge. We did not ask to eat or say we were hungry. They just said “help yourself.” In all of our travels, this was a first! Check was relatively easy. Rooms are standard size with a balcony. I think all rooms are ocean view, which is a nice perk. Also, one can view the excellent sunsets from the balcony. Our room had a fridge, safe, good shower pressure with hot water, and toilets that flushed without problem. Pool area was nice with plenty of chairs. The hotel has nightly entertainment. Breakfast buffet was good with a large selection and included everything one would want for breakfast, including mimosas! Breakfast, and dinner if one chooses to eat at the hotel, is in an open-air restaurant. To minimize the impact of birds, the staff provide bread outside of the restaurant. It works reasonably well but not 100%. Be prepared for birds flying around during meals. There are plenty of taxis available outside the hotel. We negotiated service with one taxi driver for the week. They took our family to town for shopping, etc. We also used them for a ride to dinner every evening. The area has several nice restaurants but very few within walking distance. It was cost effective to eat out than eat at the hotel. If you would like information on our driver, message me and I will send you his contact information. Jennifer Lopez. Everyone meets JL. She is a nice person dedicated to the resort. She goes over the top to make everyone feel welcome.

The Ravenala hotel was just amazing! Our room was super big, comfy with an amazing bed and view on the gardens. The breakfast options were great, you have plenty of different choices (vegan, childfriendly options...). The staff care was exeptional, always ready to help us with our requieries. The highlight of our stay was the special dinner that we had on the front deck on the waterfront, a lovely and romantic experience to enjoy as a couple! Highly recommend! Special thanks to Mr David and the staff for making it one of our best stays

Mauritius is called by its locals as paradise island i mean everyone says amazing things about the country they originate from however the people of mauritius truly mean it when they say it, its a beautiful colourful, green and tropical country with endless miles of beaches always a stone throw away. where ever you go you see beautiful coconut trees, palm trees and mango trees and some stunning birds, colourful dragon flies and bats the nature alone is so breathtaking. the food, the locals, the price point of excursions, the weather and the beaches were literally out of this world. its a country that i would genuinely consider going again and again infact i actually cant wait to step back into mauritous and forget my blues, if your a avid diver or snorkler then mauritius is a must, we did so much in the space of 9 days from paragliding, snorking with turtles, undersea water walking, diving, water sking, off road riding using ATVs/quad bikes, watched horse racing, zip lining, shopping in there vibrant colourful markets, visiting historical sites that were rich with history and different cultures, eating out local street food and world class cuisines for very little money. super affordable and what a beautiful hidden gem of a country. family and myself were completely blown away by it to the point we are rethinking ever going back to places like dubai over beautiful tropical natural countries like mauritius. we also had a friendly parrot that would visit us daily and gladly sit amongst us without being scared or shy and share some food with us.

Great for relaxation. Beautiful, serene, welcoming.

Great for relaxation. Beautiful, serene, welcoming. Splendid for scuba divers or paddle boarders. Practically zero night life. Careful: too many dangerous dogs roaming around everywhere in Mauritius (not just on this beach) make nightly walks ghastly and horrifying - I got attacked multiple times! I had to fight for my safety and health and fend the feral beasts off! That’s a harrowing experience you don’t want on your holiday. The government should tackle this serious problem ASAP!

There are 3-4 notable restaurants, up to 5 street food options. winner's has everything you need. The beach is very good, if it was crystal clear that would be dreamy. Sunday evening (confirmed from a local, it's happening every week) a bit loud, a bit different than others. Difficult to eat outside because of the high volume.

Balaclava is not the most lively part of Mauritius which suited us perfectly. It consists mostly of vegetable fields, forests and small hamlets. The coast is getting developed with hotels but each is keeping its space so it doesn't feel crowded. You need to rent a car or get a taxi to visit the nearest town, Pamplemousses. There you have the old sugar factory, botanical gardens and a very pleasant shopping mall with a food supermarket.

The beach of Mon Choisy is a long sunny sandy beach nice for swimming. During October to March it is hot there but the sea is great for swimming. However during these months some cyclones may also visit the Island ! Other months are also sunny and the climate are cooler around 24c during the day. In weekdays the beach is calm and it is not crowded. However during Sundays and public holidays locals are there and it is very crowded but as it is a long beach there is still some space for everyone. On Sundays expect loud music from loudspeakers by some picknickers though there is law about it but it is rarely respected. There are also many stray dogs on the beach but they are not aggresive.

Short tips: Take your meds for allergies.

Short tips: Take your meds for allergies. I had a allergy day 1 and it really spoils the fun. The nurse Sarista is really amazing there but you don't want to struggle. TAKE MEDS to prevent. Pack your running shoes. The gym is GREAT or go for a jog, because you eat a lot. Bring a digestive and or something for indigestion and heartburn. You eat a LOT! Don't forget your SPF. Dress up clothes for the evenings. You would want to look smart at dinner. There is something about the events and atmosphere at night.

It was a disappointment from day one.

It was a disappointment from day one. After we realized that the proposed and booked room didn’t match reality, (had no kitchenette, no private entrance and no fireplace) . Hotel staff was ok, but not great. Recorded two incidents where dead insects where at the dining area and beside food at the open kitchen in the restaurant. General manager never spoke with us, staff apologized and gave us an upgrade to all inclusive from our half board booking (breakfast and Dinner). Overall an ok experience but clearly no 5 stars. More like 3 stars. We also stayed at Le meridien in Dubai, which is a different league and much much better and customers friendly than Mauritius. We were happy when we left the place in Mauritius and won’t recommend Le Meriden there to anyone.

Roches Noires is a nice place.

Roches Noires is a nice place. Keep in mind that in our summer (july / august) it is winter over there and the east coast will have a constant breeze (up to 4 BFT). Having a rental car we found that almost all of the days we would drive to the west or south coast as there is no wind on that side during their winter.
