She noticed that I was a solo traveler and invited me to lunch one day to keep me company 😊 It was delightful • Very clean and well maintained. • Bus to Port Louis is just a few steps away across the street. • There were a few activities hosted by the resort, like the welcome cocktail party and karaoke. • I booked my airport transfer through Booking.com and it was the lowest cost of all the companies. Very smooth connection with driver who was pleasant for the long drive. 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦... • In this small town, there are not many dining options and some of the higher rated places are only open for dinner, i.e., walking after dark. Prepare for the possibility of having all meals at the resort. • Some reviews mentioned party noise from the entertainment area. I heard music, not unpleasantly loud and it stopped promptly at either 10p or 11p, definitely not later.Guest review byBronzeAbroadBelize
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 768 reviewsStaying in The Ravenala Attitude was a great experience in general. Our room was very far from the reception, but we didn't mind walking much. Our room was really spacious, facing the river. The hotel has several restaurants you have to book your place in time, but you can always eat in the main restaurant. We especially liked Madame Ming, Kot Nu and BBQ restaurants, their managers, chefs and waiters were amazing! In general the staff is extremely kind, helpful and lovely. (Gilles, thank you for the tea selection!) Sometimes you don't even need to ask for something, they are paying attention and bring it for you even before you opened your mouth. The hotel is very clean, the garden is beautifully maintained. I especially love how environmental friendly the hotel is! We rented single kayaks, glass bottom double kayaks, played Bocca on the beach, participated in Yoga and Tai Chi lessons and cooking classes. Especially cooking classes were amazing! Thank you Madame Ming and Kot Nu for the incredible experience! We had a great time, inspite of being very unlucky with the weather.Guest review byOrsolyaHungary
- From $721.59 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 583 reviewsWe had a fabulous stay at Zilwa! What a gorgeous resort! The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, from the warm welcome we received at check in to the wait staff at each of the restaurants. Even the instructor for our morning aqua gym class was great - very enthusiastic! The food at each of the restaurants was excellent; we especially enjoyed the Thai restaurant, Manao, and had a delicious Indian meal at Tadka. We also had fun at the island for the BBQ lunch. The grounds are beautiful and our view from our ocean front room was stunning. We saw several lovely sunsets during our stay too. I celebrated my birthday while I was at Zilwa and the staff made my day very special by decorating our bed and offering dessert with my birthday dinner. The evening entertainment was terrific. I loved the dancers! Zilwa also has many fun activities and we were able to go out kayaking and snorkeling. Although I also wanted to go scuba diving I did not have the opportunity during this stay. I highly recommend Zilwa Attitude and hope to return to this beautiful resort one day.Guest review byJenniferUnited States

Mauritius is called by its locals as paradise island i mean...
Mauritius is called by its locals as paradise island i mean everyone says amazing things about the country they originate from however the people of mauritius truly mean it when they say it, its a beautiful colourful, green and tropical country with endless miles of beaches always a stone throw away. where ever you go you see beautiful coconut trees, palm trees and mango trees and some stunning birds, colourful dragon flies and bats the nature alone is so breathtaking. the food, the locals, the price point of excursions, the weather and the beaches were literally out of this world. its a country that i would genuinely consider going again and again infact i actually cant wait to step back into mauritous and forget my blues, if your a avid diver or snorkler then mauritius is a must, we did so much in the space of 9 days from paragliding, snorking with turtles, undersea water walking, diving, water sking, off road riding using ATVs/quad bikes, watched horse racing, zip lining, shopping in there vibrant colourful markets, visiting historical sites that were rich with history and different cultures, eating out local street food and world class cuisines for very little money. super affordable and what a beautiful hidden gem of a country. family and myself were completely blown away by it to the point we are rethinking ever going back to places like dubai over beautiful tropical natural countries like mauritius. we also had a friendly parrot that would visit us daily and gladly sit amongst us without being scared or shy and share some food with us.Guest review byImranUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Great for relaxation. Beautiful, serene, welcoming.
Great for relaxation. Beautiful, serene, welcoming. Splendid for scuba divers or paddle boarders. Practically zero night life. Careful: too many dangerous dogs roaming around everywhere in Mauritius (not just on this beach) make nightly walks ghastly and horrifying - I got attacked multiple times! I had to fight for my safety and health and fend the feral beasts off! That’s a harrowing experience you don’t want on your holiday. The government should tackle this serious problem ASAP!Guest review byJuraj GerbelSlovakia - 10.0

There are 3-4 notable restaurants, up to 5 street food options. winner's has everything you need. The beach is very good, if it was crystal clear that would be dreamy. Sunday evening (confirmed from a local, it's happening every week) a bit loud, a bit different than others. Difficult to eat outside because of the high volume.Guest review byMutluTurkey - 10.0
Short tips: Take your meds for allergies.
Short tips: Take your meds for allergies. I had a allergy day 1 and it really spoils the fun. The nurse Sarista is really amazing there but you don't want to struggle. TAKE MEDS to prevent. Pack your running shoes. The gym is GREAT or go for a jog, because you eat a lot. Bring a digestive and or something for indigestion and heartburn. You eat a LOT! Don't forget your SPF. Dress up clothes for the evenings. You would want to look smart at dinner. There is something about the events and atmosphere at night.Guest review byZonikaSouth Africa - 10.0

Balaclava is not the most lively part of Mauritius which suited us perfectly. It consists mostly of vegetable fields, forests and small hamlets. The coast is getting developed with hotels but each is keeping its space so it doesn't feel crowded. You need to rent a car or get a taxi to visit the nearest town, Pamplemousses. There you have the old sugar factory, botanical gardens and a very pleasant shopping mall with a food supermarket.Guest review byCzech girlCzech Republic - 8.0

The beach of Mon Choisy is a long sunny sandy beach nice for swimming. During October to March it is hot there but the sea is great for swimming. However during these months some cyclones may also visit the Island ! Other months are also sunny and the climate are cooler around 24c during the day. In weekdays the beach is calm and it is not crowded. However during Sundays and public holidays locals are there and it is very crowded but as it is a long beach there is still some space for everyone. On Sundays expect loud music from loudspeakers by some picknickers though there is law about it but it is rarely respected. There are also many stray dogs on the beach but they are not aggresive.Guest review byHooben TOUSSAINTMauritius - 4.0
It was a disappointment from day one.
It was a disappointment from day one. After we realized that the proposed and booked room didn’t match reality, (had no kitchenette, no private entrance and no fireplace) . Hotel staff was ok, but not great. Recorded two incidents where dead insects where at the dining area and beside food at the open kitchen in the restaurant. General manager never spoke with us, staff apologized and gave us an upgrade to all inclusive from our half board booking (breakfast and Dinner). Overall an ok experience but clearly no 5 stars. More like 3 stars. We also stayed at Le meridien in Dubai, which is a different league and much much better and customers friendly than Mauritius. We were happy when we left the place in Mauritius and won’t recommend Le Meriden there to anyone.Guest review byMarkusSwitzerland - 8.0
An ideal spot away from the bustle of Grand Baie.
An ideal spot away from the bustle of Grand Baie. Perfect for couples. There is a large public beach a few minutes walk away which has all the local facilities. Beach shacks selling local food and fresh fruit juices. The local people were all very friendly and the taxi rank nearby was ideal for planning trips.Guest review byVeraUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Roches Noires is a nice place.
Roches Noires is a nice place. Keep in mind that in our summer (july / august) it is winter over there and the east coast will have a constant breeze (up to 4 BFT). Having a rental car we found that almost all of the days we would drive to the west or south coast as there is no wind on that side during their winter.Guest review byMarkNetherlands
