- From US$166.96 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 894 reviewsEverything. Its a paradise. They have the best beach on entire cost, with beautiful sandy entrance which further away has rocks, separating it from the main coastline. The environment and design was stunning. We loved how authentic it was, not spoiled with fancy materials. Excellent staff going extra mile. Great food at the restaurant. Yoga in the morning and later breakfast. Although rooms have no AC only fans, it was enough for good sleep (and I am a person coming from far north always suffering from heat). Pure perfection.Guest review byUnėLithuania

The beds are very comfortable, there are many restaurants offering varied and good food, the staff is lovely, the pool is huge and the garden lovely. We particularly liked the singer on Wednesday evening, (Garcia), he should come more often. We will come back ! Big thanks to the team who took care of us during our stay: Raul (Reception), Martin (American Bistrot), Hector (aquagym), Irving (breakfast), Carlos (towels), Manual (drinks at Carey), Felix (spa)Guest review byAudreyFrance

Great people, great food, and no worries about ICE dragging people away. Also, it is not the cheap Mexico you may be thinking of. All of the prices except dental work were the same as in the US. Nothing cheap there anymore, not in Cancun anyway.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Historical city with lots of wonderful restaurants featuring Yucatecan cuisine. I loved walking around the Municipal Market (Mercado)...so much to see and buy there Side trips to Valladolid and cenotes, and Xcambo and Xtampu were interesting and reasonably priced. I also took a cooking class from Sofia at her home...a fun day with excellent Yucatecan food.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

The main Playa del Carmen beaches ( Mamitas Beach, Pelicanos Beach and the one next to the Ferries are very very narrow as the sea is rapidly eroding them; thus there is very little space to sit and wherever you are, you will have locals playing loud music on their portable music players. A really beautiful wide beach with a jungle backdrop is the Coco beach which is about 2 miles long and easily accessible. The other very good beach is Playacar beach which is also long and wide but has hotels between the palms, the whole way along.Guest review byrobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Antigua is a great location to get a taste of Guatemala.
Antigua is a great location to get a taste of Guatemala. It is easily accessible by private or collective vans from the Guatemala City airport. It is a very safe place to visit for single women or tourists traveling for the first time to Guatemala. The city is very walkable but be aware that the traffic in the streets has the right of way, so be careful stepping off the curb to cross the street. I love walking the streets and visiting the old church ruins. The Markets are full of local goods from Guatemalan artisans. If you have time the local interior market is an adventure worth exploring. The area has a multitude of great restaurants and places to eat. It's a good place to spend a few days, or just use it as a stop on your way to other parts of Guatemala.Guest review byGailUnited States - 8.0

Monsoon season, meant a lot of sea weed on beaches although locals trying to keep of top of its removal and in the sea , stopping swimming, mosquitoes due to damp humid weather . Taxi is very expensive as no other public transport,so they can charge what they want , hire of scooters is cheaper.Guest review byCharmainUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Safer than the last time I went to Guatemala - about 25 yrs ago- . A lot of non tourist places to explore. Beautiful country side. The only tourist area I explored were Antigua, lake atitlan, Flores which are well suited for tourist, with all the services they might desire. Other parts of the country some level of spanish is required. I spent 7 months traveling mostly northern part of Guatemala, only seeing a fraction of what the country has to offer to travelers.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

It’s a tiny town, best to get around with a car but taxis are available too. It has a proper Caribbean vibe and the lagoon is just fantastic - really clean, warm and sweet water. We also enjoyed the food at La Playita restaurant.Guest review byKlaudiaPoland - 8.0

The downtown area is full of good restaurants with excellent Yucatecan food with reasonable prices, and service. The main Cenote and local food market is easily walkable from the main square. Walking is the best mode of transportation as everything is close by. The locals are welcoming and kind with a spirit of community and acceptance to outsiders. If you are fortunate enough to rent a place with a kitchen there is a grocery store on 39th street with everything you need to make a meal. They have a Turi bus that will pick you up at the main plaza for a fee and will take you around all the important parts of the city. The ADO Bus station is close by and can be used for trips to close by towns. They also have a "Vay y Ven" bus system for short trips around town. Valladolid is a quaint Spanish colonial style town with colonial architecture buildings mostly painted in pastel colors.Guest review byChuck and GailUnited States - 10.0

The town is charming, the restaurants serving local cuisine are delightful and the summer climate is amazing. 15 degrees at night and 22 or so during the day with no humidity. There are many activities in or near San Cristobal and we enjoyed the local parks at Arcotete and Grutas del Mamut. Our dogs were able to run off-leash and explore the forest. We spent a month at a Spanish language school (San Cris) which was a wonderful place to improve our language skills.Guest review byDonaldMexico - 6.0

We used this town as an overnight stay on our way back to Tuxtla. The town council have gone to great lengths to improve the riverside walkway with a beautiful park filled with seating areas and delightful flowers and vegetation. People are not used to seeing visitors and we often heard ‘gringo’. The restaurant/cafe area is vibrant with lots of choice. Like all towns/cities there are run down areas too…. The contrast is quite stark.Guest review byKelColUnited Kingdom
