Flores is hidden gem. The best location to stay in Flores to reach top attractions is Faja Grande. And Vilas do Mar is certainly the best property you can choose once in Faja Grande. Houses are very comfortable, spacious with great view on a sunset from your balcony. People who take care of property are very friendly and willing to help you.

Beautiful location, nestled I the valley of Faja Grande. Stunning views of Poso Ribiera do Ferreiro and walking distance to the hike. The cottages were quaint but well equipped and preserved the traditionality of the old village. Thev staff were super friendly, warm, welcoming and helpful. On-site restaurant had a good breakfast spread with made to order options availability and even vegan and vegetarian friendly.

What a beautiful and clean place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by the family and truly felt right at home. They are incredibly hospitable and happy to help if needed. We had a wonderful time and felt completely relaxed. A special thanks as well to your lovely daughter for the beautiful drawing of the boat — we’re definitely taking it back with us to the Netherlands!

The house was very clean when we arrived and plenty of equipment (towel, dishes, soap, ...) was provided. The landscape around the house is simply beautiful. The owner is extremely nice and accommodating.

First things first. It is close to the airport. 15-ish minutes on foot. There is also a convenient parking lot next to the police station nearby. It is an ideal spot when you have a car and are planning to make trekking trips around the island. The town is fairly small, so there is no problem in finding it. Owner also sent me the photo of the alley and how to get in so it was no problem at all. I´ve never met the owner but he was really respectful and straightforward in his online communication, which I appreciate. The apartment had all the appliances, washing machine, stove, microwave. Bathroom had a bidet. Although when washing clothes, you have to hang the laundry outside the old way. (good luck with the weather!) What came as a really nice surprise was a heated massage chair and a tv with good internet connection. There is also a small pier right next to the apartment so you can just go look at the night sea before sleep. It is very serene and quiet during off season. And it is all just behind the kitchen window!

My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights here. The instruction on how to get to the accommodation was very clear. Nuno is a great host who also gave us secret tips on the island. We also talked to him personally about how the island life really is. The apartment has a functional kitchen with a fridge, washmaschine, gas cooker and the also an air fryer. Somewhere in the neighborhood there is also a cat who also visited us regularly. We gave her the name Hector. The island Flores it’s quite expensive since everything has to be imported. We are glad that we could spend our time here. 4 nights is enough to see the waterfalls and do some hikes. We are quite active but we didn’t manage to see everything. If you have time, we also recommend to see the island Corvo.

Dona Júlia is a very nice host. The house, where our room was, is clean, has a homey feeling and is well equipped. It's at walking distance from the airport and also from the beach (5-10 min walking). There are very few planes per day and they are small, and don't make much noise, so no need to worry about being close to the airport. The roosters singing in the morning at the neighbouring houses are louder, which was so nice. 😁 A real treat.

Everything was great, amazing location near the coast and we could see the waterfall from our window. We could cook there (highly recommended as there are not many restaurant options in the area) and they saved us on our first night by providing some snacks (our flight was delayed so we couldn't do groceries before!). They cleaned the room every day and were super helpful with every question or request we had! Would definitely come back!

Your apartment was a little jem! Scenery is breathtaking, loved watching your beautiful sheeps, the sound of doves, birds in the morning while having my first cup of coffee on your deck was very relaxing. I definitely will recommend your little paradise to all family and friends. Hope to go back one day! Thanx so much, the staff was wonderful!❤

Probably the best location on Flores. Trails are easily accessible and close to main viewpoints. Views of ocean and waterfalls cant be beat. The house (mill) is very spacious and perfect for a stay where you can feel a little lost in time :-) Hosts were very accommodating with my flight delays which required adjusting booking dates!

A magical village with kind helpful people.

A magical village with kind helpful people. The village is like something out of a fairytale, perfect scenery, with beautiful well kept livestock, has such a nostalgic feel. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty, we also stayed in Sao Miguel (5 star hotel) but the food here was of a way better standard! Be carful when driving at night, ensure you have an offline map as signal is weak down some winding country lanes- we got quite lost and roads are very steep.

From the waterfalls in the west, to the lovely walkable city of Santa Cruz in the east, Flores is a delight. Get your hiking boots ready as there are many beautiful trails to check out on this island, but plan on a few days as the weather can be unpredictable and it would be a pity not to see Flores in full sunshine.

The village is small and on Sundays there’s only two restaurants open (low season). Weather is unpredictable and not so warm (18°C). Our host Ricardo recommends coming here in September when it’s still warm and the sea is about 25°C. We saw a lot of trekkers everywhere. On Flores you definitely would need a car. Close to the village iate a couple of stunning waterfalls.

I liked that it was near the famous sites and in a quiet area. It is an old house so I found it very cold and it also had a musky smell. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of blankets to stay warm. The shower was plenty hot and there were long soft towels to dry off. I had problems with the lock box not working easily. I was disappointed that there were no stores or a bakery as it’s a very small village. Buy what you need in Santa Cruz. The island is gorgeous and this side has so many waterfalls to enjoy.

    Absolutely stunning island.

Absolutely stunning island. The natural beauty left me in awe many times. I hope this natural landscape is protected. The whale museum was very educational and worth the visit. Although I think they should charge more than one Euro for entrance. It was easy to get around with our small rental car.

    It is really a paradise.

It is really a paradise. On one hand I want to share my joy from getting to see it, on the other it needs to stay pure and forgotten by the masses. When flying there, our plane had to turn back because of a technical issue, as if I was asked if I really mean it. If you love and respect nature, go for it!

    Very cool, old town.

Very cool, old town. Feels like you've stepped back in time a couple centuries. A couple local restaurants that have awesome food, with less than awesome service, when they happen to be open. Don't trust online hours, they're often incorrect. Reservations are a must as everything in town books up quickly and has incredibly limited availability. Come for the breath taking beauty, not anything else. From our experience, definitely the best place to stay on Flores island for access to the highlights of the island.

I believe Flores is the most beautiful island among the Azores. Santa Cruz is the location of the airport, small town but charming and clean. People usually visit Flores for the nature, but Santa Cruz is a good place to stay.
