The place and location is definitely unique and unforgettable. Was my first actual experience staying at a hostel, and i hope to come back again! The owner and workers are super nice and helpful, felt a warm welcome. Other visitors were nice too. The location is one of the most beautiful places on the island, and had an amazing sunrise. You have to park your car about an hour hike away, but as for me, it was what made the stay more special. It's a very pretty and easy hike, there is some cows and goats and a waterfall to see on the trail. It's a surfplace i think, i have never gone surfing but love the company of surfers. Also am not a social person at all, but still felt easy coming down from my antisocial walls at this cozy place. :) Recommend if you are into remote locations! Was my favourite memories from the island.

We stayed in apartment E, which was more beautiful than in the pictures. There is no aircon but we asked for a fan and got one so it was good. The bed could be a bit more modern. This apartment kans a large Balcony and the view is stunning. Antonio is a great host and veri helpful.

Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do.

Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do. Great hotels and friendly staff. There is a "pool" downtown at the seawall within the ocean due to rocks that have been placed, so you can swim. They have a stage where artists and singers can perform. Lots of cute shops with great merchansie to purchase, with easy streets to walk through. Lots of cobbled stones, so wear comfortable shoes. Great restaurants down cute little streets and lots of friendly people who want to help you regardless if you can speak portuguese or not.

Stunning place, perfect for a break away from the city.

Stunning place, perfect for a break away from the city. The hiking trails are nice, and you can witness both sunset and sunrise. No cars are allowed, so it's very quiet and peaceful. For those that like surfing, it offers good surfing, You can also kayak, SUP and so on! There are a couple of waterfalls nearby. It is quite isolated, with no cash machines and limited offers for food and drinks, but it is fine! Getting there can be a bit expensive. Get a taxi to the top of the mountain and hike down for a better experience. Or take a taxi to the Fajã dos Cubres, about a 5km hike away, which is also gorgeous.

Beautiful ocean view. Big quiet rooms.

Beautiful ocean view. Big quiet rooms. Nice leisure area in front of the apartment. Friendly staff. Breakfast was very poor. The coffee was not drinkable. The juice came from the machine and had an unnatural taste. And they charged extra money for the breakfast. It wasn't worth it. Inside pool definitely needs an update. Outside pool was very nice.

    The location is beautiful.

The location is beautiful. Proximity to the sea and beautiful greenery covering the steep cliffs. A surprise in the form of a coffee plantation with thousand of plants. The coffee is excellent. As a reminder, give the owner a note of your currency, he collects them, but you will see. It is necessary to have a car and good shoes for hiking. An amazing place

The apartment was really modern compared to most places in the Azores. Great view with a large covered patio with a bbq which included charcoal and wood. There is a washer located on the covered patio. The rooms were spacious and all had AC. One of the rooms also had a loft with an additional sleeping area in addition to the main bed. Great location which was in walking distance to most of Velas and nearby by Boss Burger and a Chinese Restaurant.

It is a very calm and serene place. Not much variety of outdoor activities. I am still happy I came and saw the lava natural pools, Faja do Santo Cristo and fajã do ouvidor. 2 nights was more than enough though.

It's a magical place, if heaven exists on earth it's there! Definitely stay more than one day, and do trail down stay for a few days (if you love peace and quite) and exit by completing the trail until Fajã dos Cubres.
