good location for day trips, not too far from centre of Ponta Delgada. room was very comfortable, the bed was huge. I loved the cookies that they left every day. restaurant - unbelievable food, especially the tasting menu. so much choice at breakfast too. nice spa, although not very big so only went a couple of times.

The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the facilities are great. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Sete Cidades and were able to relax with the spa. The private plunge pool in the room was an amazing touch as well. The food at the restaurant is also top notch. We had dinner there 3 times and were happy to return each time. To top it all off, the service was incredible. The staff at Sensi are always helpful when booking activities and were paying close attention to the needs of each guest. The staff were always personable and remembered details. I would love to stay again!

    This is pretty interesting location and expectations should be assessed accordingly. It is a rocky island and if you are there for sunny golden beaches, this may be not the right place. We rented a car but there are many small group excursions and trips which cover entire island. The town itself is clean and nice with plenty of restaurants and shops. It has a promenade along the shoreline and even a local bus transportation.

    I enjoyed Riberia Grande.

    I enjoyed Riberia Grande. It is a great place to situate yourself if you are planning to visit different areas of the island. The public swimming pools and ocean access was fantastic. I enjoyed going to the courtyard area in my area nightly to eat and enjoy a glass of wine. Took a little getting used to the serving staff here as they did not seem interested in their customers. Upon searching Google, I found out this may be because they are paid a decent living wage and therefore not reliant on tips. This makes it even more confusing as to why they would not be receptive to their customers.

    Spectacular park and hot springs. The foliage in the park is magnificent rivalling some of the most iconic parks in the world. Quiet, close to quiet seaside town with whale watching, fishing and good food.

    It is a beautiful and historic building with so much...

    It is a beautiful and historic building with so much character. It has calm and peaceful seating areas throughout where you can sit in comfort. They have the best breakfast and we relied on the banana for a snack as we were out and about during the day. This location is perfect for exploring the island as it is centrally located. We will definitely be back

    Casas do termo are about 2 km from Lagoa, and we didn't explore this small town well enough. The big Continente supermarket was easy to find (on the road from the motorway). The roads on São Miguel are on the whole very good and the traffic is light. There is a lot of agricultural traffic, however. Using this location as a base, we could easily explore the whole island by car and there are many things worth experiencing (views, villages, Ponta Delgada itself). It's an amazingly lush, green island. We would recommend it!

    There is not much going on here.

    There is not much going on here. We stayed here as it's close to Pico Da Vara. We should have stayed at Furnas though as we ended up driving down there 3 times :-) That being said, the island is small and it's all doable.

    Ribeira quente is an authentic fishing village with a great...

    Ribeira quente is an authentic fishing village with a great restaurant and bar which also serves good food . It has a spar supermarket but also a shop selling local fruit and vegetables amongst other things. It’s easy to find and an easy place to get to the town of Furnas with all the activities there. Although a bit of a drive to sete cicadas there is a fast road and well worth having a day there. I would highly recommend visiting the town of ribeira quente and staying at casa do lado

    this hotel was far from the airport or anything else for that matter, if you had to walk so a car is a necessity, and although the hotel had amenities like restaurant (only open for breakfast with the same breakfast every day) and vending machines (which if you could find a working one was empty( best piece of advise is find a grocery store, the island living is the best but it does take some getting used to if your from North America.

    I would recommend the island of Sao Miguel and the city of Ponta Delgada to everyone. This island is a hidden gem not known by most American's. I have been on every continent but this is a very special place and one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen!

    We loved the quiet beauty of the home. Clean and comfortable and everything we needed was there. We enjoyed a tour of the East side with Manuel. Hot springs were lovely if you don’t mind walking on the basalt.
