This is the best and most cozy hotel I visited, all the staff is very kind and helpful. It so happened that my birthday was during the vacation, I received a a lot of congratulations and a piece of a cake. What about the service, the service is at the best level !!! Everywhere clean and very beautiful) The rooms were cleaned every day, clean towels and the shiny mirrors. Breakfast is a separate topic, I, as a person not a fan of omelet, ate it everyday till the end. It was excellent and very tasty. Cocoa was delicious. Vegetarian options were also presented. The hotel also had a sauna, a great place to relax after a long day. You can also play billiards or take a board game, or a book to read. There were delicious sweets at the reception and a very nice and kind girl. The chef has always been sociable, offered different breakfast options! All the workers were just lovely.

Thank you Mikko for having us ! Such a lovely place, lost in the middle of silence and forest ! Perfect to ressource yourself ! Don't hesitate to talk with the owner and ask him to cook local food ! We had moose stew and home made mashed potatoes ! It was just delicious ! The room was clean and big enough for a couple. Well equiped ! Place easy to find with a GPS. Forest all around to walk and Reindeers come to walk on the lake or in the backyard.

This is probably, the nicest, most unique stay that I have ever had. The setting of the igloos is breathtaking, the actual igloos are so comfortable and well appointed. There is nothing to describe lying in a cosy bed looking at the stars, or opening your eyes to an orange glow across a frosty lake. Breakfast was brilliant, so much choice, although I did discover that seems to be standard in Finland. It is a beautiful, peaceful and calming environment. Oh and the staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble.

    I had wanted to book Saivaara Cottages a couple of years ago during the Covid nonsense over New Year, but someone obviously booked before I managed to arrange the flights; and whoever booked was unbelievably lucky, because the place is simply fantastic - and we got to enjoy it for 8 days this year before Christmas. Simply put, Saivaara Cottages are wonderful - the accommodation, the owners, the location - everything about the place is superb; and we will be coming again. We have stayed elsewhere in Kilpisjarvi before, but Saivaara Cottages was most definitely worth the wait. Hopefully Saivaara Cottages will have space for us net time.

    The support from the guest relations was exceptional. Our flight was delayed and we missed a day stay in the hotel and could had missed the activities that we had planned. We emailed the hotel and got an immediate reply and our activities were rebooked without any hassled. Our room was all ready for us when we checked in the following day. They also prepared a to go breakfast as we have an early morning activity as well as when we left early for the airport.

    Staff were great, spoke fantastic English and were happy to help with all our questions. The room was large, spacious and clean. The restaurant has the best minute-steak meal ever!! Yum! The breakfast was amazing, so much variety, healthy and delicious. Also a great gluten free bread and options available. Facilities were all-round clean and in great condition, and they had highchairs in all eating areas for the toddlers. The funpark for fun for the toddler!🤩

    The maisonette is a really unique cabin experience in the middle of the woods in upper Finland. The cabin has everything you need including a sauna and clothes dryer! Although we only stayed for one night we wished we stayed longer. We primarily came here for the smoke sauna which was totally worth the 21€. You can’t come to Finland and not try this! We highly recommend this place!

    Summer trip to Rovaniemi: Lapland was in a heat wave which held us back a bit as it was rather humid. We enjoyed Arktikum very much, went swimming in the river, walked in the Arctic Gardens and explored the town centre. We planned some hiking but it was hotter than we expected. At end of July, sunset around midnight for only a short time, which is cool.

    I do ski (downhill) but would not ski in Jan/early Feb in Levi because of the poor light. However it is a great village to visit and not ski if you like winter walking or other snow based activities. The restaurants are very good and characterful if you choose wisely.

    Great resort place, west village right next to husky farm and horse farm. Decent planetarium also, but they need to learn a bit about running these shows :). Do install the Aurora app if you are there for this. The Aurora alarm in rooms don't work, or atleast didn't work for me.

    Inari is a little place, surrounded by amazing forests and lakes. It is certainly a must if you want to get to know Saami culture better. It also perfectly fits for those, who like nature and long walks. Although it is small, you can find pretty many activities there - from taking a boat trip in Inari lake in the summer period, to visiting Side museum and doing northern light hunting in winter. PaPaNa pub is also a must to visit.

The Northern Lights can be seen on clear nights throughout the winter, but the best time to see them is during the darkest months of December and January. Kilpisjärvi is also a great place to experience the Sami culture. The Sami are the indigenous people of Lapland, and they have a rich history and culture. There are several Sami villages in the area, and visitors can learn about the Sami way of life by visiting a reindeer farm or a traditional Sami market.     Small town by the sea.

    Small town by the sea. The icebreaker, SAMPO, is the attraction of the town. If you are not interested in sailing in the iced sea,walking on the iced sea and floating in the sea, you needn't come here. I bought some pretty clothes in a small shop in Kemi. How happy!

    We erre here in winter.

    We erre here in winter. We made 2 tours from here and from Rovianemi. One is Aurora Borealis and the other one is a tours tó the frozen waterfalls. We really loved that there was snow here, the landscape was white, and alsó the trees.

    So great to watch the northern lights without any hassle.

    So great to watch the northern lights without any hassle. Just above you while you are on bed or few steps from your cabin. Just install the northernlight alert app and go enjoy your stay within the premises , it will sent alerts for the area you’re in and that’s what we did. Realy great experience and so magnificent to see the dancing colorful northern lights . Breathtaking . The location is perfect away from the city however the city center is not too far only around 5-6 kilometers.

    Ivalo itself was cute.

    Ivalo itself was cute. Not too touristy, much quieter than places close by and everyone so friendly with a well stocked supermarket. Not too many places to eat but it depends what you’re looking for. As a young family, it was perfect for us!

    The ski resort was very nice.

    The ski resort was very nice. Also, Amethyst mine was great to visit. I recommend to everyone! My norther lights hunting was not successful because of the weather, but I will try again. If I had more time, I would love to cross country skiing and visit the national park nearby. I wish I could try to eat more local food from Lapland. Oh well, next time :)
