- From US$21.34 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 278 reviewsWe liked almost everything, from check in to check out. Koh mak is a small island, you can prob.see the full island in one day by renting a scooter. the property arranged everything for us, we were greeted with a mile wide smile by the receptionist/cook/all around helper named Pa. She let us checked in early, handed us cold bottled waters, showed us around, and cooked us delicious foods. The location was superb, very safe and quiet. The overlooking water view from our room and balcony, listening to the waves as you doze off, and the sunset were some of the highlights. The rates were so cheap, it felt like renting an overwater bungalow in a very quiet and remote island. We pretty much arranged everything with the property from meals to transportation at reasonable prices including a massage. All the staff made our stay very convenient and memorable. It is easy to gain a family here bc of the staff. This property exceeded our expectations. Book it!!!!Guest review byPaulSweden
- From US$70.13 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 836 reviewsWe absolutely loved our stay here! The staff are absolutely incredible, they are so friendly and really made us feel welcome and at home. The facilities on site are wonderful, the pool is perfect and you can walk right out onto the gorgeous clean and sandy beach from the hotel. Breakfast was really lovely too with both a Thai and American style option available and cooked to order. We rented a moped from the hotel for the day for 250 baht which was super convenient and essential for getting around the island. On my last evening here I soaked up the stunning twilight hour on the beach with one of the furry and friendly hotel residents which was delightful! The staff could not have done any more for us, they were amazing and even helped us arrange a boat and taxi for our next stop to Koh Kood! I would highly recommend Makathanee Resort to all travelers to Koh Mak, whether you are solo, a couple or family. Incredible value for money!Guest review bySiobhanIreland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 127 reviewsFrom the staff to the location, this place was a real treat to me. I Have got the best room of the hotel with the stunning view all over the island. The manager gave me a good discount on it as it was low season and made sure I was happy to everything on the offer. The staff were all friendly and the owner went above and beyond to make sure I was having a good time on the island. She sent me suggestions on where to eat or drink or swim. The interior is the rooms is curated with such a good taste and the garden is extremely well Looked after. There is even a gym, a yoga Shala and a gorgeous pool to relax. I arrived thinking I wouldn’t wanna spent so much time on a such quiet island, but after 2 days I started making plans to actually move there!! Koh Mak is a Thai Gem! Thank you good time team for all your care and effort in making my trip wonderful 🥰Guest review byVeronicaAustralia

Koh Mak is quite small but beautiful and has a lot of nature. Good kick-boxing school. Variety of good eating places Koh Mak seafood being one of them. It is far more relaxed than Koh Chang with less to do but I actually found the peacefulness and serenity more alluring. The people are friendly and it has a up early sleep when the sunsets kind of vibe but also if you want to be out later you can. There are some very picturesque beaches and bars. Also a variety of takes on food By the sea has great sandwiches etc. If the weather turns bad then this is when the boredom may be an issue. However I loved the thunderstorms and lightening shows. Best I had ever seen.Guest review byMarty TUnited Kingdom - 10

After researching on Google satellite I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Much lusher and more tourist-friendly than I expected. Though it's a small island, there's enough there to explore more than we could in 3 nights. And it is the ideal launching site to visit the famous diving and snorkeling sites around Koh Rang island. Five nights would be adequate, unless you're a snorkeling/diving addict, then maybe more.Guest review byFredUnited States - 8.0

Very small island which is still kind of rural and not very touristy. That also means that there are not many amenities or fun things you can do. Accommodations are more basic, food or bar options are limited, and you've seen all of the island in a few hours. But you can also have a perfect chill time without any noisy tourist crowds or big loud party areas. Beaches are great. If you want more action, just take the ferry to Ko Chang (once a day).Guest review byTyeJ_travelGermany
