United StatesThis place is the best! And such a good price. I stayed in a beachfront bungalow for 9 nights, and it was a wonderful experience! If you want a more peaceful and quiet place to be after being on Koh Chang or Koh Kood, this is the spot! Family run place, everyone here is SO kind! Very roomy and clean bungalow with a large front porch area mere steps from the sand. On site restaurant serves great drinks and food, from traditional Thai food to pizza, sandwiches, and burgers. A small play area for the little ones if you have kids. Motorbike rental there as well. The beach is great for awesome sunset views, shell picking, swimming, and just chilling out. Everything quiets down after 8 pm for a good night's sleep. No late night parties or thumping sound systems here. Away from the main road enough for zero traffic noise. The busier part of Koh Mak with more choices for bars, restaurants, and stores is just a 10 minute scooter ride away. The staff here will pick you up when you arrive on the island and take you to your boat when you leave. Will definitely go back!

I liked the quiet location a bit away from the main drag. The poll was huge and there were plenty of loungers and towels. The board walk was fine, some folks commented on the condition in other posts. But they were actively replacing weak boards and installing new lighting when I was there. I was in a third-row unit and I felt like it offered great views. especially for the price!! It's Thai style for sure but I just loved it there. The grounds are lush with tropical plants and trees, which provides homes for the most lovely and melodious birds. I enjoyed the ambiance provided by the nature so much. The swimming pool is also fantastic. The room itself was very well decorated with artworks and very comfortable furnishings. Everything is well maintained and kept clean by the attentive staff. Koh Mak is quite small but beautiful and has a lot of nature. Good kick-boxing school. Variety of good eating places Koh Mak seafood being one of them. It is far more relaxed than Koh Chang with less to do but I actually found the peacefulness and serenity more alluring. The people are friendly and it has a up early sleep when the sunsets kind of vibe but also if you want to be out later you can. There are some very picturesque beaches and bars. Also a variety of takes on food By the sea has great sandwiches etc. If the weather turns bad then this is when the boredom may be an issue. However I loved the thunderstorms and lightening shows. After researching on Google satellite I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Much lusher and more tourist-friendly than I expected. Though it's a small island, there's enough there to explore more than we could in 3 nights. And it is the ideal launching site to visit the famous diving and snorkeling sites around Koh Rang island. Very small island which is still kind of rural and not very touristy. That also means that there are not many amenities or fun things you can do. Accommodations are more basic, food or bar options are limited, and you've seen all of the island in a few hours. But you can also have a perfect chill time without any noisy tourist crowds or big loud party areas. Beaches are great.
