So much to explore!
So much to explore! We visited the lighthouses and sleeping bear dunes. Tried to explore the commons shopping area, but couldn't seem to get there. Could have used a better map. Hopefully we can check it out next time. Lots of road construction made it a challenge to navigate an unfamiliar city. Views were stunning along the bay. We hope to visit again perhaps next spring. Parking was definitely an issue. We passed on exploring some shops and restaurants because parking couldn't be found.Guest review byHarold - 10

I love the gift of going to Detroit for a night out on the town or a quick overnight stay. We ate at the Selden Standard, a five star restaurant only minutes away from the hotel by car. We had a beautiful nightcap at the Apparatus Room lounge and breakfast the next morning at Hudson Cafe. That is a beautiful way to enjoy a birthday!Guest review byJanineUnited States - 8.0
The scenery is the best, even in rain.
The scenery is the best, even in rain. But food costs were uncalled for. An entree uptown was anywhere from 26-$60 per person. I don't know how families do it. And this is the off season! People with kids must bring their own food or pay a fortune. I would recommend a back pack with food if going to the Island. Expect to spend $60- 70 per meal for a couple. If you take your own food you can really save and have some money to do stuff. My wife and I rise late, eat a late breakfast and skip lunch to save money.Guest review byKirkpatrick - 2.0
The staff was awful.
The staff was awful. It took me 30 mins to check in and I gave the man a physical credit card to pay for my room however they charged a different credit card because "they automatically charge the card you have on file at 6pm, all hotels do this according to the woman I spoke to" and added a $3 airport fee that was not explained at the time of check in. Simply letting me know what was going on could have made this a completely different review. but I realize customer service is a lost art. Simply refunding my card and charging the correct card could have cleared this completely up. Even if you are just a budget hotel being hospitable cost nothing and goes a long way. Take some pride in what you do.Guest review byCandacePeru - 10

I stayed in Kal-Zoo for two periods, and only visited the location close to the Train station and nearby school. It is a nice little town with good public transportation support (bus). This town, although quite remote compared to other US big cities, I do enjoy the serenity when walking down the street, with very few cars on roads most of the time.Guest review byCheng - 2.0

I was skeptical when I read the reviews before booking but the pictures looked nice so I gave them a chance. We checked in headed downtown Detroit for the draft came back with some dinner and a COCKROACH came running towards me. We then searched the room and found MANY dead ones along with a trap hidden behind the refrigerator. It was absolutely disgusting. I asked for my money back and said I would rather sleep in my car!Guest review byJessicaUnited States - 8.0
