The rooms are spacious, the surrounding is quiet and green, as you aren't so close to the city center. Breakfast similar but very tasty, and the staff very kind and helpful. They have various offers for Ha Long and Lan Ha Bays Tours and they could book one of them for you, what is very convenient. They don't charge extra fee by paying by the card. Enjoyed Cat Ba, but don’t go on others reviews for accomodation, check out places fully, we changed places twice and would have changed again but decided to stick it out, do not accept a bad room, ask for one which you believe you have paid for and as it was described when you booked it. Don’t book for a weekend or public holiday, the Vietnamese flood the town. Hai Pong is very interesting and clean city.
Hai Pong is very interesting and clean city. They have a very lovely big park with plenty of beautiful tropical trees for shades. The walkways are always being swept of leaves. Very wide and easy to walk around. People are very friendly and helpful. Few Cafes around park areas and very pleasant to sit and people watching. On the weekend they have plenty toys for the kids to ride on and very bright and entertaining during the night. Place still have a nice pleasant vibes that is Vietnam is known for. Easy to get around can walk in the park all the way to their famous Cau Tre Canal. Don't forget the Banh My Cay which is Hai Pong is famous for.Guest review byMARIA385Australia - 8.0

A lot of ports, so there are a lot of big trucks transporting containers. I felt a little dangerously on my motorcycle in Vietnam traffic. But it is true, that 70 km per hour is all you need. A lot of seafood. The lane cabin was by far the best part, you have a nice view around and you can enjoy hills on the other side. Easy way from Hanoi. Great place for tours/excursions such as the cruises that take place often, or a day trip organised to other areas. Had some lovely restaurants and coffee spots too. However, currently lots of construction taking place in the town so if you had time, I'd say it's worth it for the visit but wouldn't be missing out on loads currently if you planned to go but with no intention of doing the cruises or a tour.Guest review byCiaraIreland - 10
Most travelers skip Haiphong. This is a mistake.
Most travelers skip Haiphong. This is a mistake. If you travel to eat, don’t skip Haiphong. The food is interesting, delicious, varied and exceptional. We had the best Pho here that we’ve had in four trips to Vietnam. The people of Haiphong are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The city center has a lovely park running through it. The old colonial architecture is rundown in places but interesting to look at. We stayed out of the old city in a modern development, but would stay in the center next time even though GRAB and the city bus are easy to use.Guest review byVitoUnited States - 6.0

Did not want to do the hiking in Cat Ba national park, however we hired a scooter and this is a great way of seeing a place. Loved taking the cable car to Hai Phong (when travelling back to Hanoi) instead of the ferry. This is is run by Sun World which also runs the cable car in Ha Long.Guest review byCecileUnited Kingdom
