Wonderful, friendly, Karoo hospitality. Small boutique hotel in a small town in the Little Karoo. Fabulous food. Ostrich steaks. Selection of local wines and artisinal beers. Classic Movie nights. Showers and baths with lots of hot water. Good cooked breakfast. The decor is original from the time when the hotel was opened in 1950's. There are many art works by local artists. Location. We loved the quirkiness of the hotel that was its real charm. The art on the walls and all the decor had real charm and character. There is a proper bar area where on one evening they had a very good pianist playing. You definitely get the feeling that the hotel is something of a hub for the village and community and a lot of activity centres around it. Some of the rooms are bigger and nicer than others, and we were able to change ours to a nicer more spacious one. Staff were very accommodating and helpful and we’re able to advise and arrange lots for us to do- on that don’t miss a dip in the local fresh water river - a wonderful start to our day! Breakfast was really delicious with lots of variety. Garden and pool area was very pretty and a lovely place to relax as well.

Excellent accommodation in a stunning setting. Individual lodges are clean, comfortable, well-equipped. The grounds are like stepping into a botanical garden, beautifully manicured. Excellent food too in the restaurant.

After we booked the stay, we had a very good contact with the owners and when we met them on arrival, it was great fun to finaly meet them and also that the place was so very nice - actullay much better than we hoped for. They have a lot of things in the rooms and you could get the feeling that it's to much, but for us - we liked it ! The room was very nice, comfy beds and the bathroom seemed to by quite newly renovated. A very good breakfast in the morning as well. We was just in for one ( 1 ) night, but could easily stayed longer. After we left, we got an mail with a lemut saying: We miss you already !! Lovely !

Amazing time at the Lodge. Not only was the food (even catered for vegan) fantastic, but the ability to hike and mountain bike around this huge reserve gave us real freedom to experience the land and wildlife. Thank you Willem for your hospitality.
