The place was exceptional with friendly staff and services. The room and onsen were both well facilitated and clean. We were staying here for six nights and they prepared us different Japanese style dinners on every night, which were all amazingly good. The buffet breakfast was nice with good variety as well. We have had a great time here and skiing in Myoko.

Loved the staff, they were amazing and helpful in every way possible. The onsen was amazing there was an indoor onsen and outdoor, both were hot and beautiful. We spend a week here, this hotel is a little bit off the beaten track, but 100% worth the extra little drive.

Morishigesou is an absolutely lovely place to stay in. The place is really clean and peaceful. Our spacious room has a heater, beddings and linen. It also has a beautiful view of the mountains. They have a dry room for storing snowboards/skis and wet snow gear for the night. Masahiro-san (the owner) is extremely kind and thoughtful, they offered to drive us up to the ski resort base camp (approx. 3min drive) in the morning, due to the closest chair lift being suspended during our stay. Going back is a quick 6-7min walk from the base of the ski resort. There's always hot water, for tea, ready in our room when we come back at the end of each day and they gave us sliced apples on our first night, very thoughtful! Storing our bags on the last day is also not an issue. They even let us wait inside whilst waiting for the bus headed to Myoko-kogen station.

Located right in the middle of Akakura Onsen the Star hotel is easy to access and then close to a number of restaurants, shops and bars. The free shuttle bus cruises past so it’s easy to jump in and get to Kanko. Onsen ski field is a 5 min walk along the street. Bar across the road and ski rental. Convenience store next door - in evenings. The family that runs Star Hotel is super kind and friendly. They’ll go out of their way to help. Breakfast was great, enough food. The Hotel is a bit tired but I think that’s par for the course around the area. Yes it’s a bit pricy but it’s the middle of peak winter season and you’re in snow paradise so …! The bathroom communal onsen is small - but easy to get to yourself. The water is soooo hot - but great for a soak. Smells great - authentic onsen water. The big family room is basic, but a traditional Japanese type stay - sleeping on futons on tatami. Plenty of extra blankets provided. Gas heaters in room are effective but you wouldn’t leave them on at night so it does cool down. Kotatsu is amazing to slip under, keep warm and rehydrate !! Discount lift tickets from reception are good but cash only. You can pay by credit card at the ski field ticket offices.

Return to this same resort at Myoko after 2 years. What I like : 1. Near to several ski resorts 2. Provides transport to train station, to ski resorts, to dinner place 3. Onsen 4. Big Japanese room for 2 person (can fit 4) 5. Simple breakfast (new owners setting up). Kind of miss the Japanese type breakfast two year ago. 6. Can do dinner at resort 7. Nice drying and locker room for snow gears. 8. Quiet place for good night rest. 9. Discount lift tickets to Alpen Blick Ski resort that is few minutes away. New owners should run in the resort well this season and improve on the next season.

Love this place , older style japanese inn. So many cool features . Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Beautiful Onsen , amazing Japanese breakfast ( which they make small changes to each day of you stay longer ). Great hosts , loads of interesting objects and art. They also have some local products for sale. Its super quiet space , very relaxing. One of my favourite spots ive stayed in japan . Theres also a handful of good restaurants within minutes - walking .

A nice Ryokan in Myoko, a little dated but quite comfortable. The rooms are spacious were were a family of 3 adults sharing a room and we all had plenty of room. Trditional futon sleeping, futons were a little thin for our comfort but the doona cover was lovely and warm. The hosts are very friendly people, nothing was too much trouble. There is a public onsen and a private onsen. We booked the private bath and it was wonderful. We had a Japanese breakfast one morning and it was delicious! The staff were exceptionally friendly

This is a small ryokan with ensuite toilets in every room run by a friendly and obliging elderly couple in great location 1km from Alpenblick skifield and 400m from Alpenblick spa with its famous black water pools and great Japanese restaurant. There is not a shared bathroom in the western sense, but a simple but authentic private onsen in house. The hot water and teabags and snacks in the corridor were much appreciated as was the hot drink and biscuits at reception on returning from skiing .

The size of the rooms was excellent with a nice view of the mountains. There were plenty of facilities with a wine bar, coffee shop, restaurants, and a games room for the kids. The onsens (hot springs were fantastic, both inside and outside. Situated in a very convenient location, close to the ski resort and restaurants. This is an excellent hotel, highly recommended 👌

the traditional room was spacious, and has a great view of the mountains. you can experience the Japanese lifestyle wearing Yukatas and sleeping on futons which were so comfortable, and you can keep your shoes on all the way to your room. the onsen was great, especially the outside one when it was snowing. the kids had fun in the games room even though it cost me with those skill testers. bars are great too with nice beer on draught.
