We loved everything about this ryokan! The room, the onsen, the food, and the service were all excellent. We felt as if we were staying in a 5-star hotel with very attentive and considerate hospitality. The generous and delicious kaiseki dinners and the abundant teishoku breakfasts were a highlight. This is truly a place where you can eat well and completely relax.

Kannawaen is an entirely non-smoking accommodation that features a garden, terrace and bar in Beppu. 100 metres from Hells of Beppu, the property is also 500 metres away from Jigokumushikobo Kannawa.

I was told to move to 2/F for better view after 2 nights stay, I did not expect it at all, and you can experience the breakfast in their sister hotel Gallery Midoubaru. I particularly appreciate the the front desk staff (a male) helped me with calling the next hotel to confirm our reservation is valid.

The host is an amazing lady who is very accommodating and takes the time to properly convene and explain everything. She even gave a small note in the morning with breakfast to wish a nice day (In English, though she speaks very little).
