The staff gave us a wonderful welcome and provided all useful information we could need (in English) and were so helpful in arranging transfers to and from the ferry port. The facility is gorgeous and it is clear that a lot of thought went into the details, from the amenities to the decor and also in the guest experience. The onsens were also beautifully done and very relaxing. The food was excellent and most of it locally sourced. The Japanese breakfast was exceptional and we also had a great dinner at the hotel restaurant one night. Lastly, the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a very lovely stay and would stay again!

Extra bonus is the hydrofoil boat that docks outside the hotel that takes you to and from Itsukushima Island. The hotel was the site of the G7 conference in 2023, with lots of photos documenting the summit. The hotel is also used for weddings, and we got to watch the end of a lovely wedding, with the new bride and groom walking up a three-story circular stairway, while the wedding guests applauded the couple from the balconies overlooking the three-story central grand lobby. Just lovely.

During the summer, guests can enjoy the outdoor swimming pool and Beer Terrace on the Seaside Deck. Aki Grand also has a public hot spring bath and sauna. Guests can reserve a private open-air hot spring bath with Itsukushima Shrine views. Activities at the hotel include a night cruising tour of the World Heritage Sites. The staff were so friendly and helpful even when the language barrier popped up . The views are breathtaking over to Miyajima island - and they have a private onsen that I booked at 6am to see the sunrise over the island - amazing ! The hotel onsen is great and the food is great too . Shuttle bus to local train station and ferry port which was handy . Love this place , had two nights , one day exploring Hiroshima , one day on the island . If I ever return to Japan , this will be my first choice hotel in the area !
