From the very first minute we arrived, we knew we would spend a great stay there. Georgina has been like a mother to us. We arrived way before the check-in time and yet she did everything to make us settle in our room soon upon our arrival, meanwhile giving us many indications about what to do in Bacalar in terms of visiting and eating/drinking. The breakfast was great, with a variety of options, delicious cooking and fresh tropical fruit. At last, we learned that the owner of the establishment is from Quintana Roo and that she chose all of the decoration herself, which is something because everything is of very good taste, from the color tones to the beautiful flower vases. If by any chance we go back to Bacalar, we'll definitely stay at the Hotel Maria Maria again!

Stayed here for a night after we got the bus in from Flores, Guatemala. It was perfect as it’s super central - by the park and fort where the bus dropped us off. Lots of restaurants, ATMs and shops nearby but the hostel is tucked away enough that the rooms are quiet. Ground floor rooms too which helps when you have heavy bags. Staff were very kind and helpful. After checking out, we were able to leave our bags in lockers and the staff said we could even use the showers if we wanted to (we didn’t need to but we noted their generosity!)

This location is Beautiful!!! The air conditioner was a welcomed sight! Cute set up in room. You get your own fridge and coffee maker. It’s truly perfect and super affordable. We felt so safe! The location of the property was great about 10 mins walk from the ADO bus station and 10 mins from the lake side too. The staff were all incredibly helpful, we had a shower problem twice in a row and they came to help immediately. The bed was also enormous!
